The Capital Region Land Bank, part of Metroplex, cleared the site and demolished a long vacant zombie property on Cramer Avenue in Rotterdam so that Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County could build their 63rd home in Schenectady County.

The renovation of 3 State Street can now move forward following final approvals by the City of Schenectady earlier this week. This is an important historic preservation project as 3 State Street is on the National Historic Register. We thank Johnson Electrical of Troy for working with Metroplex to obtain approvals and start renovation work to restore this long vacant building bringing 17 new apartments on-line.

⚠ Bike Path Paving Advisory ⚠

National Grid will be performing restoration activities on and along the Mohawk-Hudson Bike Trail and Mabie Lane in Rotterdam Junction from June 24-July 2. Repaving and backfilling of the trail and of Mabie Lane may create temporary delays and intermittent closures on the trail.

For your safety, please be cognizant of traffic control devices and safety personnel when traveling in this area.

📣🚴‍♀️ Bike Trail Detour - Washington Avenue/State Street intersection City of Schenectady

Starting May 20th a short detour for the Empire State Trail will be in place due to a roadway reconstruction project at the intersection of Washington Avenue and State Street in downtown Schenectady’s Stockade Neighborhood. The temporary detour will direct people off the trail for approximately 300 feet through the parking lot at the SUNY Schenectady Science (CST) Building. The purpose of the construction project is to create an improved route for the trail and a “Contra-Flow” bike lane on Washington Avenue to better accommodate trail users. The detour will be in place for approximately six weeks until construction is completed.

Being Climate Smart is a wise investment!

Earlier today, The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation recognized Schenectady County for achieving Climate Smart Communities Silver Certification. Schenectady County is one of four counties across the state to earn silver status, and the only county in the Capital Region. The steps Schenectady County has taken to reduce its emissions and carbon footprint are also saving money. The Schenectady County Solar Consortium produces enough solar energy to offset the electricity used by all nine municipalities in the County and will save taxpayers over $20 million.
