Happy first heavenly Mother’s Day to my beautiful Mama. Not a day goes by that I’m not thinking of you. We love and miss you so much 💗
There are many firsts a person will have to go through after loosing a loved one so I knew my birthday would be one of those days and one of the harder days too. My mom always loved to celebrate our birthdays and always made it so special. During her 10 year cancer fight she unfortunately struggled financially. I don’t know how anyone is supposed to hold down a job while sick as a dog being pumped with all sorts of toxins, but she somehow always made sure we felt special and celebrated. This cake was one of those ways. She knew it was my favorite and it definitely wasn’t one of your $5-10 Walmart cakes, but she somehow always made sure I had it for my birthday.
I remember telling the hubs awhile back about wanting to have something for my birthday each year that reminded me of my mom. It would help make it feel like she was there with me to celebrate each year I got older. Low and behold the hubs brought THE cake out for me after dinner last night. I now know what I will do each year to remember her🎂🍰. Btw if you haven’t had a chantilly cake from Whole Foods you are missing out😋
Christmas festivities in AZ 🌵🎄
Part 2:
I have mentally prepared for my mastectomy as much as one can. Prepared for the fact that I won’t be able to nurse my future kids (which I so badly wanted to do), prepared to have no more feeling in both breasts, for drains coming out of my body while I heal, and minimal upper body mobility. But the most difficult thing for me to imagine is that my “foobs” will look and feel quite differently than my natural girls.
•
This decision and process has been one of the most difficult choices I have had to make and one which has led me to feeling all the feels. The hardest emotion I have had to work through is survivors guilt. Asking myself why I get this opportunity to prevent something that ended up taking the life of my mom. I shortly after remind myself that my mom wouldn’t want it any other way and if she could have it all happen again, she wouldn’t change a thing because without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today with the knowledge I have for my health and to act preventatively. So with that said I know my mom and Jesus will be with me through every step of this journey. I also want to thank my amazing and supportive husband as well as my family and friends who have been so supportive through my journey so far. Let’s do this thing!
Part 1:
“The BREAST is yet to come.”
•
I have been so hesitant to share this news over social media but I feel it is so important and a way to honor my mom by sharing not just her story but now my journey in hopes that it could help even just one person become more knowledgeable with breast cancer and preventative care.
•
On October 12th I am having a prophylactic (preventative) bilateral mastectomy to significantly reduce my risk of getting breast cancer. Before my mom‘s breast cancer diagnosis there was no known risk of this cancer in our family which in the end hurt my moms screening by doctors turning her away when her lump was deemed “non suspicious” in her yearly mammogram and ultrasound. It took her a couple months of advocating for her health to finally get a dr to biopsy her lump which resulted in her stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. Because of her heroic journey she gave me and our future generations the greatest gift and the opportunity to now act preventatively.
•
After her diagnosis doctors suggested I get genetic testing done. My results showed that I carry two gene mutations. One of them known as ATM which increases my risk of getting breast cancer by over 60%.
•
I’ve spent the past few years going back-and-forth about this decision, but in December when I found my own 2 lumps and over the last few months have had to undergo multiple biopsies, ultrasounds, and an MRI (thankfully getting benign results), I made the decision that enough is enough and I am taking back control over my body. Nobody plans to alter their body at 26, but making this decision became very clear especially after seeing all the pain and suffering my mom went through. Now I can’t stop picturing waking up from surgery not feeling ruled by anxiety and fear. To be cont...

Happy Father’s Day to my pops! The boys and I are lucky to have you as our dad and to have your support through everything ❤️
Huge Congratulations to my friends for the purchase of their first home!! It was my pleasure being able to help you with this process and can’t wait to celebrate with you guys soon! 🎉
We now know what Easton is mixed with (not like it would have mattered one way or another), but we were always so curious since he was found as a puppy all alone! We did the test that included his health background so now we know what to keep an eye out for as he gets older. We also get to see any of his relatives that also took the test and share his DNA. So far they are only on the 100% German Shepherd side, but I am really hoping one day that his other side of the relatives will start showing up. Yes, we are those crazy dog parents but we just love our little rescue mutt so much and I know others can relate😍
*** If anyone is thinking about buying the Embark test let me know, because I can refer friends to give them $40 off the test and this test was well worth it!!
Today is National Rescue Dog Day so of course I have to post my rescue babes 🐶
Happy Mother’s Day to the strongest woman I know. Mom, you mean everything to the boys and I and we love you so so much 💗💗💗
So happy to have been able to help my clients find and close on their very first home!! I cannot wait to see all the exciting things they plan to do with this home 🏡 Congrats you guys!!
7 years old. I don’t know how he is already 7😭 Easton has been the biggest blessing in our life over these last 7 years. At 3 months old in an overcrowded Arkansas shelter his fate had been sealed and he was put on the euthanasia list unless a rescue was able to pull him in a matter of hours. We were fortunate enough to find him at just the right time and put in our adoption application so the rescue could save him. We waited 2 weeks for a foster to drive him and a few other lucky pups to Colorado to meet their furever families. I have never had a dog show gratitude on a daily basis as if he knows we saved him and have given him the best/most spoiled life a dog could possibly have. With everything we have been through over the years, he has always been there. When Kyle or I are sad or stressed, Easton can tell and he runs over to us and pushes his head under our hand to force us to pet him, which in return calms us down. He gives the best greetings at the door, even if you had only stepped outside for a minute. He thinks he is human and no one is telling him otherwise. We love this dude so much and couldn’t imagine life without him.
Always a great day to hike Sedona
