HonorHealth – Virginia G Piper Cancer Center Renovation

HonorHealth expanded its cancer center options across the Valley through the creation of the HonorHealth Virginia G. Piper Cancer Care Network (VGPCCN). VPGCCN can provide a comprehensive range of cancer diagnostic and treatment services under one local highly coordinated umbrella of care. ARCHSOL was sole selected to design the renovation and expansion of 10 Arizona locations.

The projects consisted of shell buildouts for outpatient pharmacy infusion centers and a wide variety of services including interior demolition and updates to interior architectural, structural, mechanical HVAC, lighting, plumbing, power and communication systems, and interior finishes, installation of new equipment requiring reconfiguration and renovation of single pharmacy treatment rooms into a separate medication prep rooms and mixing (C-SCA) rooms, construction of new patient infusion stations and associated nurse stations, and clean and dirty supply rooms.

This state-of-the-art facility is designed to offer comprehensive medical care in one location, including access to cutting-edge clinical trials and research.

Key design features include:
Patient-Centered Design: Wide hallways and recessed floor scales for wheelchair access, ergonomically designed spaces for patient care, and nature-inspired aesthetics and lighting to promote healing.
Extensive Facilities: 13 consultation rooms, 4 treatment rooms, 3 EMG rooms, a patient waiting area, a therapy gym, an infusion center, a resource library, physician offices, and additional support spaces.

We are proud to showcase the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) Cancer Center and Serenity Garden, a beacon of hope and healing for patients and their families. This award-winning project embodies our commitment to creating environments that support both medical excellence and emotional well-being.

🔹 The Vision:
Designed as a 3-story outpatient cancer treatment facility, this center integrates medical oncology, radiation therapy, and infusion services. It represents a crucial phase in YRMC’s long-term strategy to enhance patient care through thoughtful design and state-of-the-art facilities.

🔹 Design Highlights:
Healing Environment: Utilizing natural light, expansive views, and large shaded areas, the design promotes healing by fostering strong indoor/outdoor connections. The Serenity Garden, which won the 2017 AZ ASLA Honor Award, offers a peaceful retreat for reflection and relaxation.
Patient-Centric Amenities: The center features a welcoming reception area, a bistro café, a beverage bar, a resource center, and a community conference room, all designed to enhance the patient and visitor experience.
Advanced Medical Facilities: Includes two linear accelerators for radiation oncology, a CT simulation room, a high-dose-rate (HDR) therapy room, and an 18-station infusion treatment area.

🔹 Operational Excellence:
This project was executed over a highly aggressive two-year schedule—one year for design and one for construction—as part of a multi-phased, 5-year initiative that supports YRMC's vision for the next 30-50 years.

Celebrating in style, we hosted THE GREAT ARCHSOL BAKE-OFF on May 13th, inspired by the beloved Great British Bake-Off. Our talented staff whipped up their favorite recipes, showcasing an incredible array of dishes. From Cinnamon Roll Challah to Tiramisu, Midnight Bread, Carrot Cake Cookies, Chocolate Hazelnut Tart, Baked Salmon Bowtie Pasta, Gramma's Apple Pie, and Summertime Strawberry Compote with Chocolate Mint Cake - the variety was as impressive as the flavors!

Judging took place over the ARCHSOL lunch hour, with every team member providing their critiques. The competition was tough, but it was Soha's exquisite Tiramisu that stole the show! 🏆🎉

Congratulations to Soha on her spectacular dish, and a huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a delicious success!

🌟 Project Spotlight: Mayo Clinic Hospital – Central Sterile Expansion 🌟

We are thrilled to take you inside one of our pivotal projects—the expansion of the Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) at Mayo Clinic Hospital. This expansion was not just about adding space; it was about enhancing efficiency and safety while the department remained fully operational—a true testament to strategic planning and ex*****on.

🔹 The Challenge:
Expanding and renovating a vital 10,724-square-foot space without disrupting the hospital's day-to-day operations. Our goal was to relocate support areas and significantly increase the size of both the sterile and decontamination departments through a meticulously phased construction plan.

🔹 The Solution:

New Spaces for Staff and Operations:
We introduced comfortable new staff locker rooms, a vendor room, several offices, a staff lounge, and a versatile multi-purpose conference room.
The sterilizer area was expanded to include two new sterilizers, a cart wash, two washers, seven additional processing sinks, a rack return, and a new vestibule—each meticulously designed to streamline operations.
A new operation command center was created to enhance coordination and management.
🔹 The Impact:
This project not only expanded the department's capacity but also its capability to serve the hospital's needs with greater efficiency. Through innovative design and phased construction, we ensured that improvements were made without a hitch, maintaining the highest standards of hospital operations.

Today, we take you behind the scenes of one of our most impactful projects—the outpatient pharmacy infusion center at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center. This tenant improvement journey showcases our dedication to reimagining and enhancing healthcare environments.

🔹 The Challenge:
When presented with an 8,400-square-foot space on the third floor of a dated 4-story Medical Office Building, we saw a canvas awaiting transformation. The mission? To create a state-of-the-art oncology center equipped to deliver exceptional patient care.

🔹 The Transformation:

We started with selective demolition, clearing the way for innovation.
Every layer of the space was rethought—from structural reinforcements to sleek new HVAC systems and lighting.
The installation of modern plumbing and power systems set the stage for high-tech healthcare delivery.
Aesthetically, we chose finishes that evoke calm and resilience, ensuring that every corner of the facility speaks to comfort and care.
🔹 The Result:
The new space features 18 patient infusion bays, 9 exam rooms, and a cutting-edge pharmacy—all designed under stringent USP 797 and 800 standards. It’s a place where patients can feel at ease, supported by top-notch facilities and a compassionate setting.

This project, delivered on an accelerated schedule, not only highlights our architectural and engineering precision but also our commitment to advancing healthcare through thoughtful design.

All of this benefits the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center, a community-based non-profit organization, is dedicated to ending food insecurity and fostering self-sufficiency throughout 225 square miles in Northern Maricopa County including Cave Creek, Desert Hills, Anthem, North Phoenix and North Scottsdale and Southern Yavapai counties including Mayer, and Black Canyon City.

In 2023, we distributed nearly 787,900 meals within our service area. Our weekly Senior Market Day saw 2,225 market visits last year, an increase of 23 percent over the year prior. This has become a vital resource for our seasoned community members in need who struggle to make ends meet.

One such program is our Archsol, LLC Hiking Club! Today, our team embarked on the Gateway Trailhead at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve for a sunrise hike, reveling in breathtaking views.
