This sweet girl is still looking for a home with a very patient family. A playful and active girl that is just under a year old. Originally purchased from a pet store she came from a puppy mill in the Midwest, the owners didn’t have the patience or skills to handle her special needs. When she first came into rescue, she was nearly feral and absolutely terrified of everything. While she’s come a long way, she still needs work. She would do well with other dogs as she loves to play and it would help her to learn trust.

Berry is an adorable 2 year old pup who loves to snuggle, sleep, and have lots of belly rubs. She has recently had bladder stones removed and has had a brief history of recurrent UTIs. Berry will benefit from an owner who is able to provide her with medical care should the need for UTI treatment arise. Berry may need a surgery in a few months to prevent more UTIs, her current owner is waiting to hear from the vet about whether this surgery can be comped. Please inquire for more details about the sweet, soft, wonderful Berry: [email protected]

We would like to share our experience with Librela, a new drug to alleviate arthritis pain in dogs. Please note this is just our experience and many others have had positive results with no adverse side effects.
The vet recommended Librela injections for Stitlz, a senior mini poodle to help with his arthritis, he has bilateral luxating patellas and had recently been showing some discomfort.
I did some research on the new drug but I made the mistake of relying too heavily on the vet and vet tech recommendations and wanting to ease his pain, I went ahead with the treatment. The series of 3 injections was given to him monthly and the first 2 months he appeared to be responding well to the treatment and was feeling pretty good, he was his active self again.
Unfortunately, towards the end of his treatment he started to develop some minor neurological issues, which was initially attributed to his age, knee issues and/pain. This started a cascade of neurological deficits that he did not have prior to the injections and then last week he suffered a stroke and the neurologist suspected he had mini strokes previously.
The usual protocol of bloodwork and testing was done to determine if there was a systematic cause for the stroke (such as thyroid issue, kidney disease, high blood pressure etc. While there is no way to know for sure at this time, so far there is no systemic cause which leads me to believe there is a good chance it’s possibly related to the injections.
With so many vets encouraging the treatment with very little information offered about the serious and fatal risks, I feel the need to share with other dog owners.
We are blessed to still have him and are grateful he didn’t need to be put to sleep as there are many dogs that weren’t so fortunate. Although his future quality of life is unknown. Please keep him in your prayers.
If your dog has had a Labrela injection, we would like to hear about your experience.

This poor kid got stood up twice last week, but it didn’t dim his happy spirit one bit!
He is most definitely a handful so when we received 2 great applications that understood his special needs and were willing to invest time with him, we were so happy this sweet pup was going to find a home of his own, but sadly they both bailed.
But that’s ok, that just means his perfect home is still out there!
He and his buddy Tobi, the blind cocker hopefully have a potential adopter bringing their dog to meet them to see who would be the best fit for their family but we are still accepting applications for them both.

Howdy!
My name is Finn, this is a very rare photo of me when I’m not zooming around at 100 mph!
I’m just a pup and I’m looking for a VERY active home with an experienced owner who is willing to spend the time continuing my training and will invest time each day to play with me. I came from poor breeding but I am a typical cocker with my awesome personality, I just have a few quirks.
I am a stunning young man and I’m very high maintenance, but totally worth the effort, I promise! I’d do best without young children in the home and with my high energy, I need a home with a large yard, sorry but I’m not meant for apartment or condo living.
Interested in possibly adding me to your family? Please visit www.azcockerrescue.org and complete an adoption application.

Sophie is about 8 years old but acts MUCH younger! She was surrendered by her owners because she was having issues with the other older dog they had at home and felt Sophie would be the best to rehome. This was an issue that went on for years.
She does have some anxiety issues and is fearful of men but she is not aggressive with people. She gets along well with other dogs but is can be possessive of her food.
She is very spunky and lovable and will need a patient home that is willing to help ease her anxiety. She would do best with a calm home (no young children) where she will get plenty of exercise and learn to trust people. She is perfectly kennel trained and potty trained also but could use some more basic obedience that will help her bond with her new owner. She will bark when left alone at first so would not be the best fit for apartment living.
When she came into rescue she was in desperate need for a major dental! She had bloodwork that looked great and she got a full dental cleaning and had some extractions so now she has an adorable smile 😊
She loves sunning herself and taking long afternoon naps! And boy does she snore!
Please visit www.azcockerrescue.org to complete an application if you are interested in adopting this precious girl!

This little old lady found herself out on the hot streets of Tucson and is currently waiting for her owners to claim her. The shelter has reached out to us if no owner comes for her because she is in pain and will not allow them to pick her up, so she will not be adoptable and most likely needs more medical care.
We can take her in but we need to find a volunteer that would be willing to transport her from Tucson to the vet in Wickenburg, anyone interested in a little road trip on Sunday or Monday? If you can help, please send a text to 602-757-8225 thanks!

Sophie is about 7 years old and is being surrendered because of her increasing anxiety. Her current owner rescued her from a bad situation a while back but recognizes she is not able provide the right home for her and wants the best for her and is totally heartbroken. Sophie’s anxiety is becoming more directed at the other, much larger dog in the home. Her owner says she usually does well with other dogs.
Sophie is looking for a patient home that will help ease her anxiety and provide a calm environment. A home with no young children would be best.
If you’d be interested in Sophie, please submit an application at www.azcockerrescue.org

Jax is an independent guy who loves to cuddle but after a while wants his own space. He is good with other dogs yet would love to be an only dog to be spoiled rotten. He loves hiking and enjoys car rides and as he is getting older, at 12 years of age, he enjoys long naps. He’s excellent with humans and gentle with little ones.
Interested in meeting Jax? Please submit an application at www.azcockerrescue.org
