I'm leaving on a jet plane....(admit it, you just sang the rest of the verse!).
I will be visiting family and friends this week and out of the office until next Tuesday.
Please hold all emergencies until then!
The Olympics begin this Friday. Do you watch?
Do you enjoy the opening ceremonies?
What is your favorite event?
It seems like every year there is one event where I say, "Huh, that's an Olympic event?" Learn something new!!
Wednesday was
How did we communicate without emoji's?
Facial expressions!
Have a few laughs today, and enjoy your weekend!
I was talking to someone last week and they asked me how long I had been burned out. What? Me burnt? Yup, it was a fact that I wasn't willing to face.
How does a person be un-burnt? Previously when I felt burned out, I just powered through and waited for it to go away. That isn't working this time.
Got me thinking -- maybe I wasn't the only one who felt this way.
Have you communicated with your employees lately to find out how they are feeling? Asked them what their concerns are?
Allowing employees to voice their concerns and feel heard is the first step any employer can take in helping their people deal with burn out.
Hosting a round table with your staff where they can openly voice their feelings is a great place to start.

Check in on your working parent friends.
It doesn't matter if you are a business owner or an employee. Working parents, especially those that work at home, may be at their wits end with the kids being home. And this Phoenix heat keeps them indoors or begging to go into the pool.
I wish when I had been a working parent someone had told me to give myself some grace.
I don't have all the answers, but I do recommend you be flexible with yourself, and your employees.

When hiring your next employee, or looking for a new team member, remember you WANT to find someone who is "smarter" than you!
They are not your competition; they are your team members.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday.
And this Sunday is another awesome holiday. So get ready!!!
It is World Chocolate Day.
I know I will be celebrating.
I will try not to eat an entire bag of chocolate! (but no promises)
We wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July.
We also ask that you be considerate of others -- not everyone likes fireworks.
Be kind to veterans and pets this holiday.
Hello July!
Let's do this!!
As you work on your quarter recap and plan your goal for Quarter 3 remember your future is bright and full of joy!
Your intention sets the tone. Make intentional decisions, set intentional goals, and look at the positive. It makes a difference in your planning.
As you begin to think about your goals for next month and next quarter try something different.
Instead of only writing down tangibles (things you want to accomplish) write down how you want to feel.
Do you want to feel joy? Feel love? Feel accomplishment? Feel proud? Feel gratitude?
I am going into the new month trying something different and embracing my emotions and feelings instead of ignoring them. How about you? What are you planning differently for the next month?
I walked around last Friday with a low grade headache I couldn't shake.
Finally realized it was because it was 113' out, my to-do list was overwhelming, and I hadn't drunk enough water. Oh yeah -- and I forgot to eat.
Self care IS drinking water, it is eating your lunch, and it is taking the time to focus on you.
Yes, people may need you, they may need your input, and they may want your attention. But you are NO good to them if you don't take care of yourself first.
Yesterday was the first day of summer.
Time to enjoy the sun, drink lots of water, and wear sunscreen.
Also time to reset your goals, rethink strategies, and plan out the 2nd half of the year.
But let's tackle that next week, for now -- rest up and enjoy your weekend!
Compensation Strategy -- something all business owners need to have in place now more than ever.
Whether you use an HR professional or do this on your own, as a business owner you need to develop a strategy to implement the DOL and FLSA changes.
Include in your strategy templated communications to employees, guidance to managers on handling questions, and updates of your policies.
The salary and overtime increases and the changes in reclassification are quickly approaching. How can businesses be prepared for the upcoming shifts?
First step -- determine the affected positions for both the initial increase and reclassification effective July 1st.
Yes we need to talk about the January 1st deadline too, but let's focus on the here and now.
Want help? Need to talk this through? That is what we are here for!
I tell my clients how important it is to rest your mind. Refresh your brain. Live in the moment.
I decided to take my own advice.
I will be out of the office until next week. My brain is on vacation.
Have a great weekend!
It is an incredible honor to be recognized as a 2024 Torch Award for Ethics Finalist. Thank you for acknowledging our commitment to ethical business practices. And thank you to everyone who helps us make this possible.
Did you know: your employees are considered "blue-collar" if they are in construction, maintenance or production industries. This includes plumbers, carpenters, electricians, mechanics, operating engineers, and laborers to name a few.
Employers -- you need to classify them to a non-exempt hourly employee as of July 1st.
Have no idea what I am talking about?! CALL ME TODAY. Let's talk about what needs to be done. We can help you get this done before the July 1st deadline.

Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts?
Chocolate or Glazed?
Sprinkles yes or no?
I miss donuts. I went gluten free about 5 years ago , and I miss the Dunkin Donuts chocolate cake old fashioned donuts (with frosting of course). Have one for me today!
I am a routine driven person. Routines help me think and focus. But my routine needs to be flexible to allow for, well life.
One of the routines I stick to daily, without fail, is to tidy my desk at the end of every day. I admit, on any given day my desk can be a total mess. Taking the 5 minutes it takes to tidy my desk at the end of the day is a way I mentally let go of today and prepare for tomorrow.
What are some of your habits that are so natural you don't think about them anymore?
Your daily routine matters. It has the power to set you up for a successful day.
I have been working with several of my clients who are refreshing their routines for summer. Or they are adjusting their routines because kids are home. OR it is just time for a change.
June is a great month to look at how you are doing things. Is it effective? Is it efficient? And most importantly, does it bring you joy?
Is Servant Leadership a good thing - https://mailchi.mp/1f2ef69c6124/servant-leadership-style
It's the first Monday of a new month.
June can be anything you want it to be.
Fresh start, new intentions.
Do you have new goals and the desire to create new habits.
OR is consistency desired outcome?
Whatever your goals for June, I hope it is a great month for you!
Thank you, May for the memories, the wins, the celebrations, and the decent weather.
What are your celebrations this month? Big or small, count them all!
Can you believe May is almost over? And June is right around the corner?
As I sit here and recap my May I am focusing on the Wins and Celebrations, not the "almost there's." I am a goal driven person, and not meeting a goal (the way I thought it should turn out) can put me in a grumpy mood.
As you close out the month of May I want you to find inner peace with everything you have accomplished this month. So many positive things in your life. Focus on those!
Long weekend hangover? Dragging a bit this morning?
Today does not need to be a grind.
This week does not have to be the longest short week ever.
Change the narrative and change your attitude and watch the magic happen.
