❗ It's the most wonderful time of the year❗ The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Occupational Fraud 2024: A Report to the Nations will be available soon.

From the sneak peek: once again hotline reports are front and center in the report, as described by the ACFE President John Gill, CFE. ➡ "One of the most important pieces of information detailed in this survey is that tips are the most common method of detecting fraud. 43% of cases were uncovered because someone chose to report them. Employees were the source of the report 52% of the time, while customers or vendors reported nearly one-third of the tips. In every presentation I give, I reinforce how the most important initiative an organization can take to reduce fraud is to increase fraud awareness among employees and implement an effective method for employees, customers and vendors to report anything they might suspect is unusual."

In addition, web forms and emails have surpassed telephone reporting by more than twice as many reports made by web and email.

"Respondents are overly optimistic about the efficacy of their programs, especially when it comes to the strength of their corporate cultures."
