Meet Dleh 🤝, a new member of our iLEAD program in South Phoenix. Dleh is a student at South Mountain High School with aspirations of becoming a professional soccer⚽ player. One of the things Dleh enjoys most about being an iLEADer is spending time with the children and ensuring they have a great time!

Huge thanks🥰 to Adriana from Arizona Christian University for engaging with our freshman iLEADers and showcasing the opportunities in higher education. The session offered insights into academic programs, activities, and support services, inspiring students to explore college🎓 possibilities. This partnership has opened doors for our students, motivating them to excel in their educational pursuits and we are so thankful.

Our iLeaders are AMAZING! This these high school students have not only had to keep up with a new school year, they're also diving into God's Word, leading lessons and activities, and being great role models for younger students! Way to go guys! 💪

Meet Danya, a freshman at South Pointe High School, is one of the South Phoenix Tier 1 iLEADers. She is the younger sister of Samara, a previous lead teacher at MK who is now studying computer sciences at NAU. Danya is passionate about helping younger students develop leadership skills and enjoys seeing them solve problems independently😁 . Her favorite part of being an iLEADer is learning new things about the students and having fun with them. However, she finds it challenging when all the kids bombard her with questions🤔 or want her attention simultaneously. Mr. Alex began his journey with us as an iLEADer during his sophomore year, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and a strong commitment to growth. Today, he stands as a pivotal staff member in our South Phoenix afterschool program, serving as the lead teacher 👨‍🏫 for our 5th to 8th-grade students. His progression and development have been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing not only his dedication but also his ability to inspire💡those around him. We take immense pride in Alex's achievements 👏 and the positive impact he continues to have.

We're back at it with After-School Programs! 🎉
Getting back into the routine of school can be tough for students. So Mrs. Judy in Paiute has had our middle school class practicing class routines and learning all about the mission and vision of MentorKids! 💪

Thank you to all the families that came to our orientation to meet our teachers, and see our new MnetorKids location. We are beyond excited for a new school year.

Ms. Aylin who is a Junior 🎓 this year has been with MentorKids since kindergarten and is now fully engaged in her work as a lead teacher and the students in south phoenix are reaping the rewards of Ms. Aylins mentorship. The praise👏 from both students and parents serves as proof of the significant impact Ms. Aylin is having at MentorKids.

Looking back on all the fun we had this summer in our Paiute Promise Neighborhood! We're sad summer break is over, but SO excited to start After-School Programs on Monday! 🎉

Through our collaboration with St. Mary's food bank, we have expanded the range of healthy options🍽️ available to our program students in South Phoenix. This includes a variety of fresh produce, dairy 🥛items, and whole grains, all of which have contributed to improving their overall health and nutritional intake. We are truly appreciative of this partnership!

During our last week of summer program, our students had fun dressing up for our last week/spirit week.

We extend our heartfelt 💕 gratitude to our dedicated volunteer Salvatore for organizing a ⚽ soccer workshop for the students in South Phoenix this summer. Your selfless contribution is truly appreciated!

Our MK kids had a fun field trip to Butterfly Wonderland where they had the opportunity to learn about butterfly migration and to take a really close look to the different types of butterflies.

During the summer program in South Phoenix, students had the opportunity to learn various skills 🧑‍🍳, including using a knife for cutting vegetables and creating delicious cake pops 🍭, all thanks to the Local First organization.
