Today marks four years since I changed my entire life by hiking 1100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019.

I had finally found what made my heart sing; being in the mountains. Where there is beauty everywhere, even when that beauty is as painful as frostbite, it’ll leave you inspired.

To think I’d be making a post about my hike as an author! Some of my poems are going to be featured and published in a new anthology series about Americans Scenic places this spring!!

Life is truly what you make of it, so grab at the fleeting feeling of freedom when you hear the call.

It’s 🌈 season!! One of the best parts about spring is the sunshine with some rain.

Here in the PNW, rainbows are fairly common. With constant drizzles when the sun is trying to break through the clouds, a beautiful show of color happens.

I don’t know if I could live anywhere else.

Spring is a beautiful time of year, everything beginning to bloom and sprout. Symbolizing growth and inspiring all of us to get plans lined up for the coming summer.

It’s also the beginning (for most people) of hiking season 🥾

What’s your favorite thing about spring?

I truly missing being able to wake up every day on trail and be excited for every mile ahead of me.

Then I met my ex, who twisted everything they could. It became erosive to my whole being. I would get so upset I wouldn’t eat, which, on trail, can be incredibly dangerous. This happened often.

Abuse can have these incredible highs, but eventually, you will understand how sharp and jagged the lows can get. Don’t beat yourself up further if you’ve come out of a terrible relationship, you made it out. Now the goal is staying out and finding a healing path back to yourself.

No one can tell you how to heal, it is for you to figure out which path is right for you. Give yourself the breaks they never allowed you to take without remorse. You deserve so much more than what you were given so far in life. 🤍

Never be afraid to take bold leaps in life 🌙✨

Sometimes my morning drive to work is absolutely stunning. I don’t get to take pictures or write at that very moment, no matter how much I want to. But once I grab my my morning coffee, I try my best to write the poetry that ran through my mind as I drove.

My home is beautiful and I don’t know if I would go anywhere else.

Even if it’s a little hike, it helps me feel at peace. When I take time out for myself to be surrounded by nature, I always feel better about where I am in life.

It’s hard to carve out the time in this busy world, it’s one thing I’m trying to get better with. Vacation really helped to remind me of the healing power of nature

I’m so grateful to have these amazing friends to make such memorable moments with! I recently publish a blog on our mini (yet long) adventure!

, Ethan, introduced Abby, , and I when I was telling him that I was looking for an artist to illustrate 1100 Miles. We immediately clicked and have been working and hanging out since! Abby and I live closer to each other than we do to Ethan, so we do end up hanging out quite a bit.

When our schedules finally aligned for us all to hangout, we had the most of it! Check out our blog at Taogoi.com!

Sometimes struggling will lead us to a better future

No matter the season, mountains have the ability to captivate and teach us many things.

When was the last time you were inspired by mountains?

01/17/2022

My partner got this picture of me during an incredible sunset while we were working. It captured the excitement in my face to see such an amazing experience, feeling like I’m swimming in the colors!

With a notepad in my clutched in my hands, I was figuring out how to write a poem. I use poetry to capture moments that would otherwise be fleeting. To look back and read the poems I’ve written about the amazing views I’ve seen, sends me back to those moments.

How do you choose to capture the moments that fill your soul with joy?

You are the most important, don’t forget ✨

Happy New Year, y’all! I haven’t posted yet this year, I have been on leave waiting a covid test, and it only lasted so long because of the 8” of snow that landed here in the Greater Seattle Area. I had barely enough energy to get myself ready for this new year.

We, as a people, have been working so hard. We work so hard to keep this flawed society running, when do we get to rest and recoup? To relax and find out what we want out of this life?

When is the last time you took a few days to yourself?

12/28/2021

It is SO COLD this morning!! It said it was 18 degrees outside on my way to work!

I was inspired by the snow lit up by the smiling moon, but that poem will have to be for another time because this is one I just whipped up for y’all!

I keep a journal and pen in my car so I can write when the inspiration strikes!

How does winter inspire you?

12/24/2021

Happy holidays to those celebrating this weekend!

12/23/2021

I hope as you start looking back on 2021, you remember what inspired you this year. What has you motivated to keep down the path you’ve chosen?

Are you at a crossroads right now?

Know that, some days you’ll be able to look back and be grateful for the work you’re doing now, even if it’s slower than you’d like.

You got this.

This poem is linked to one of my favorite memories of waking up at dawn on trail in 2019.

There is something so stunning about being above the clouds and watching them billow about, looking like an ocean of fluff. I could see the 3 Sisters volcanoes and Mt Jefferson in the distance. I got to see those landmarks I’d been using to motivate my hike, back behind me. It’s absolutely invigorating to see where you’ve been.

What is your favorite morning memory?
