Moments like this make me so proud of where my career began, the talented people I had the privilege of learning from, that shaped me into the stylist I am today. This is one of those people I hold dear to my heart; Graham, a very special mentor of mine that helped me hone my craft all those years ago. Being in your presence again, listening to your stories, and sharing your one of a kind knowledge with my team was truly an honor. Can’t wait to do it again!

What a fabulous day of education, community and reunion! Thank you to Graham Breakwell and everyone who came out (sorry we didn’t get a group shot before the morning peeps left🫤) this class wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. There are very few times in life where things come full circle. This was one of those moments. Let me share a little story with you…

In 2006, I moved to Seattle as a newly licensed stylist at the ripe age of 20, with a truck full of stuff, I knew no one…but Seattle was where I wanted to start my career. I heard about a salon called Seven that had just opened their second location & was one of the best salons in town. I went in as a “client” to check out the vibe & after my service was finished, I went up to the manager & asked for a job as an assistant. He hired me on the spot & my advanced training journey began.

After a month I was chosen (by my surprise) to be Rodger’s (the owner) assistant. I was told to be at the downtown salon the next morning, I had no idea what the hell I was doing or how he wanted things…all I knew was that he was super intense. I was thrown into the fire but up for the challenge! Come to find out, we made a great team & I ended up assisting him for 15 months! To this day I was the longest assistant to work under him. It was truly an honor & during that time I learned so much, more than I even realized at the time. Those first 3 years of my career, shadowing him, learning from his amazing hand picked educators, working along side amazing stylists, the culture he created, all the motivational meetings he led, the standards he held us to…I am the stylist & salon owner I am today because of those moments. They were so challenging, required grit, no bu****it, accountability, professionalism & the demand to be your best at all times. The culture he build brought us together & we were a family. That is the same culture I’m working hard to create now & those standards are always in the forefront of everything. Thanks to him.

The hay-days of Seven are gone - we’ve all moved on but the friendship & history is still there. Having him in my shop this week, seeing how proud he was of me, all I’ve accomplished & cheering me on, was truly one of the proudest moments of my career. A true FULL CIRLCE moment.
