Washington Equality PAC is dedicated to protecting the LGBTQ+ community by endorsing and electing LGBTQ+ candidates to all levels of office in Washington state and by supporting those allies who stand up for the LGBTQ+ community.
Last night at our monthly board meeting, we considered the latest questionnaires submitted since our endorsement meeting. We are excited to announce three new endorsements and ratings: Chris Stearns for State Rep., Senator Manka Dhingra for 45th LD Senate, and Julie Anderson for Secretary of State. Not only have each of these candidates earned our enthusiastic endorsement, they have also earned our highest rating of "Perfect" on LGBTQ+ issues.
Ballots drop this weekend so make sure to check out all of our endorsements (and yes, we'll still consider late endorsements for the 2022 cycle!) here: https://waequality.org/endorsements
*PRIORITY RACE ALERT!*
LGBTQ+ voters and allies in Washington's 26th Legislative District absolutely must re-elect and return Sen. Emily Randall back to Olympia. Not only is Senator Emily Randall a perfect advocate on behalf of LGBTQ+ folks, Senator Randall is also running against one of the most anti-LGBTQ+ elected officials in Washington state. We call this race a "two-fer." Elect an amazing LGBTQ+ champion while defeating someone hostile on our issues.
Rep. Jesse Young. who is running against Senator Randall. is one of only *five* House members (out of 98) to vote against HB 1687, which bans homicide suspects from claiming a defense based on panic over a victim’s sexual orientation or gender identity. This bill's final vote was overwhelmingly bipartisan and named after a transgendered teen who was murdered in Clark County. The contrast between these candidates couldn't be clearer and that's why it's a must-win for the LGBTQ+ community.
In the House seat in Position 2, we have an outstanding advocate for LGBTQ+ issues. We proudly endorse Matt Macklin for the House seat in Position 2. Matt demonstrates an outstanding command of the issues facing our community and is dedicated to the protections and rights of LGBTQ+ folks.
Despite our best efforts, we did not receive questionnaires back from all of the candidates in 26th LD. For our full list of endorsements, visit https://waequality.org/endorsements
LGBTQ+ voters and allies in Whatcom County's 42nd Legislative District have three outstanding choices for the legislature this year: Sharon Shewmake for State Senate, Alicia Rule for State House in Position 1, and Joe Timmons for State House, Position 2. All three candidates demonstrated an outstanding command of the issues facing our community as well as dedicated support for rights and protections of LGBTQ+ folks. This district is always a battleground so we are proud to endorse these three champions of our community.
Despite our best efforts, we did not receive questionnaires back from their opponents. For our full list of endorsements, visit https://waequality.org/endorsements
Secretary of State Steve Hobbs has conveyed not only a deep understanding of LGBTQ+ issues but has also earned bonus points from us for going above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of LGBTQ+ folks. Secretary Hobbs' record in the legislature and deep knowledge of the issues we face have earned our enthusiastic endorsement and a "Perfect" rating based on Secretary Hobbs' perfect answers to our questionnaire and perfect legislative record and stellar LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Thank you, Secretary of State Steve Hobbs!
