Boat Bar

Our travels to France over the years have always left us inspired (and very full).

Parisian seafood bistro and wine bar fare, Boat Bar begins where Bar Melusine left off, also drawing its inspiration from travels to France, but with a more focused menu and a closer relationship to its neighbor, Restaurant Bateau. Our thoughts and conversations following these trips routinely center around how we might bring home our favorite bits of the cafés, wine bars, bistros, and shops we vi

East coast oystahs are here! Say hello to the other side of the oyster fam, the viriginicas. Around here you might be well acquainted with our beloved pacific oysters boasting deep cups and crisp flavors. But every summer season we get a visit from these east coast varieties from the surrounding waters of Maine. If you haven’t tried ‘em yet, this bivalves are full of savory and umami flavors, delicious and unique. Give them a whirl!

Big thank you to our friends at for this special haul. 🦪🦪🦪

Hi friends, sorry it’s been a minute! Lots of tasty updates and new seafood-y snacks on the menu, let’s play catch-up shall we?

🐟Fried fish skins on the specials menu! A crispy favorite, especially if you’re a fan of chicharron. A perfect bar bite served with geoduck crema, shaved watermelon radish and ikura.

🐙Cream nettles and octopus with fig leaf oil. A little aloha from sous chef Chris’s Hawaiian upbringing. This dish is inspired by squid luau, an island classic. As a bonus, it’s bycatch! We’ve subbed the taro leaves with some of our nettles from our spring harvests for a little NW spin. Close your eyes and hear the waves. 🤙

🍤Shrimp doughnut! We know, we know, we love the Dungeness crab too but sometimes you gotta try something different, y’know? We promise it’s just as delicious. Topped with the same salmon caramel and tiny mountain of parm and horseradish.

Whew, what a speed round! We’re not done yet, but if you’re still reading this you probably should just grab a seat at the bar for the full experience. Yes? Yes!

🦪🍸 We have a brand new oyster flight coming to you live! For all the lovers of the salty, briny and floral side of oysters and spirits, it’s a must. And by it, we mean, it’s tini time.

We’ve put together three variations of the martini to pair with our oysters east to west coast. For the classic, dirty, and vesper sippers, we got you covered. And don’t get it twisted (see what we did there?) it still comes with a sweet little guide for you to navigate each pairing like a world class cocktail hour star.

🥄 If you’re looking for a sweet treat to end your meal, think boudino! If you’re unfamiliar, think pudding, but a fancy Italian pudding to be exact. Made with orange blossom caramel, toasted walnuts, whipped cream. Crumbly, silky, and delicious!

Lots of feels today because it’s ’s last day. Today marks the end of an era for us at Bateau and Boat Bar. Over 8 years ago we opened Bateau’s doors with Justin Legaspi as our Sous Chef and in 2020 he took on the leadership role of directing Boat Bar’s kitchen. Since 2015 we have been blessed with a kind and gentle force of a human, bringing a special light, generous creativity, a passion for people and lifting them up, and thousands upon thousands of hours of listening to Kanye. We will miss that beanie wearing head bopping around the kitchen and the mismatched crocs running up and down the stairs. He will forever be part of the legacy of these walls.

Justin, we wish you the very best as you start your new adventure with We know how lucky they are to have you on their team. We wish you and your family a multitude of blessings and good things to come your way. We miss you already. Love love love you. 🫶

🦪Olys are back! For those that haven’t tried an Olympia oyster, despite their small size, there’s a lot of special qualities that make this oyster a special treat.

These lil buddies are a true NW gem (no really, they’re the only native oysters to our area!) They’re sensitive growers and also take longer to develop apart from other oyster species. This also makes them quite the rarity as well. Aside from their recognizable size, people enjoy these oysters for their unmistakable minerality and vegetal flavors. Don’t miss ‘em!
