"BGC so far has given me an opportunity to express my devotion for this mesmerizing craft; DANCE. I was warmly welcomed into the company later in the season and have been surrounded by the love and support of badass women who can dance you into a trance. I have been able to communicate parts of who I am like never before. BGC demonstrates femininity, technique, discipline and community. I continue to be amazed about what these women can do and I am beyond grateful and proud to be a part of BGC."

Congratulations on your 3rd season with BGC 🎉🎉🎉 We asked Neeraja to reflect on her time with BGC:

"This is my third season with BGC and I couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful. I joined BGC after falling in love with Latin Fusion music and dance after taking Becca’s classes a couple of years ago.

Ever since I’ve been coming back because I found the dance training and community I needed and had been looking for. My intention was to receive formal training in dance fundamentals, and use those steps to express my dance with more cleanliness and confidence. With each season I see myself get better - whether it be sharper chanes/ basics/ spot turns or just letting loose to the down beat. Dancing to Latin fusion music adds a lot of spark and excitement. There’s a lot of grace to the movement as well and I enjoy expressing myself in these steps.

I really enjoy dancing and performing with this group of women. All our local performances and travels to Reno/ Orlando/ San Jose have been so memorable and so fun.

Looking forward to many more such moments together."

We asked Connie to reflect on her seasons with BGC so far:

"I remember first seeing BGC perform at Salsa Con Todo back in January 2023, and I was instantly captivated. Not only by the adorable bubbly high ponytails and snakeskin belts, but the sass and confidence that emanated from each of the dancers truly made me wish I was up there with them! I never imagined myself performing - even as a kid, I've always had an aversion to attention, especially on stage. But, I always love looking for ways to grow and challenge myself, and I felt like BGC was the right avenue for me to try.

I have loved being part of the BGC family. It has been such a warm, caring, and supportive community that provides me with a safe environment to push myself and learn from my mistakes. In addition to honing my dance technique, I've gained so much resilience, self-confidence, and self-compassion during my time with BGC. I feel so inspired by my teammates, and everyone brings something special to the table that makes the experience feel so rich. I have loved getting to know and dance alongside such powerful humans and am excited to continue growing in my future seasons with BGC. "

"I joined BGC for this amazing community of strong women who share my love for dance and because I knew Becca would push us all as dancers! It’s really easy to go from drop-in class to class and pick up one choreo then onto the next but I love that as part of BGC we get to spend an entire season really diving into one piece - from understanding the meaning & feeling behind it, mastering the technique & body movement, to polishing every little detail. I always join each season with the intent to just have fun, and I’m happy I get to end each one feeling super proud of our performances and full of love for the team."

"I joined BGC with the intention of improving my musicality and to become more comfortable with salsa body movements. I love the supportive environment of BGC, the variety of techniques that we learned, and the drills that have helped me to continue to work on my goals. For most of the season, I was focused on adjusting my movements based on what I see in myself. Towards the end of the season, I was able to observe how other BGC members dance, and I was and am completely inspired by each dancer. Everyone has something uniquely beautiful about how they execute their movements. I now try to learn and incorporate some of these movements into my own dancing! Being a part of BGC and being around these amazing dancers have helped me to get out of my own head, be more observant, and be inspired."

"Thanks to BGC, I’m getting my dance moves back! Before BGC, I was too embarrassed and frustrated by what I had forgotten from my dance years to push myself. Moves that were easy for me as a kid had me dizzy and unstable. But Becca is patient, kind, and a great teacher who never made me feel like I was too far behind to catch up. The BGC community is so friendly and encouraging that I felt safe stepping out of my comfort zone and back into dance shoes."

We asked Eugenie to reflect on her time with BGC:

"If I had to describe my post-BGC dancing in one word it would be: CONFIDENT….but then if I could add another word it would be STRONG.

I joined BGC because I knew it was going to be a great community, surrounded by powerful and kind women and that would push me to improve my dancing skills. I can happily and proudly say that after my 5th season on BGC (yes, I was there on day 1 and have not missed one season 😅😅) I have reached those goals of mine and it feels so good 😊. I have worked so hard on certain aspects of my dancing and finally being able to give it all on stage while applying all the techniques I have learnt at BGC is the BEST feeling ever ❤️.

We are just about done with Season 5 but I am so ready for Season 6! 💃🏽"

"Pre BGC dancing for Steph looked inconsistent, isolated and an idea at best. However, coming back for Season 2 has brought forth consistency, community, and confidence in being myself, as well as handling two dances in my brain at one time (and changing costumes super duper fast with the help of my teammates haha). I have seen the growth in mindset of pushing myself in how I approach movement both literally and its priority in my life. I can’t wait to see what Season 3 brings! 💃🏻❤️🫶🏼"

"Before BGC, my dancing was 'narrow-focused,' while now it feels 'flexible' and 'fusion-driven.' I joined BGC to challenge myself and explore different styles of dance I wouldn't normally pursue. Initially, my goal was simply to improve my skills, but throughout the seasons, it evolved into a deeper intention to express emotions and tell stories through movement.This journey of constant dance exploration has not only honed my technical abilities but also enriched my creative expression, making me a more versatile and adaptable dancer, continuously pushing my boundaries and enriching my overall dance experience.

I am so honored to be part of the BGC community and I feel so excited for all the new growth and learnings ahead!"

"In the fall of 2023 I was set on joining a dance team and in my search I stumbled upon BGC. My original goal was to join a traditional salsa dance team, however, after meeting a few members at the Reno Latin Dance Festival, I remembered how kind and uplifting they were so I decided to do the audition and try something new. I'm so glad I did and it turned out to be one of the most fulfilling things in my life. Being on BGC Expression allowed me to dive deeper into salsa technique while also challenging myself to go beyond what I know. By the end of the season I’ve grown to be a more confident and strong dancer with the immense support from my community. I’m so happy I found BGC!"

"Empowered

I initially joined BGC because dancing was always a passion of mine, but I lacked the confidence and technical skills to express myself through movement. My goal was simply to improve as a dancer and gain more experience performing.

However, as the seasons progressed, my intentions evolved beyond just honing my craft as a dancer. Through the supportive environment of BGC, I realized that dance is not just about perfecting steps but about finding my voice in movement and connecting with the energy of the music and other dancers.

With each season and performance, I felt empowered to take risks and insert my personality into the choreography. Ultimately, BGC taught me that dance is a powerful medium for self-expression and personal growth. While I initially joined to become a better dancer, I now have a greater sense of confidence, passion, and appreciation for the art form's ability to connect people and inspire authenticity."

I joined BGC initially to make friends and integrate into the Seattle dance community as I was new to the city. My main goal during my first season was to regain the experience of performing in front of larger audiences and rediscover my passion for dance. Over the course of my two seasons with BGC, my goals and intentions have evolved significantly. I now feel confident not just in executing dance moves but in expressing emotions and connecting deeply with the audience (as well as re-learning how to do stage makeup 😁). BGC has transformed me into a well-rounded dancer and expressive performer, capable of stepping into any dance class with confidence and a readiness to learn and grow."

"My pre- and post-BGC dancing described in a word: flat vs. three dimensional. I feel like before BGC, I was mostly swimming on the surface with my movement. Becca‘s training has really helped me dive in and find new depth and dimension in myself, not only as a dancer, but as an instructor, choreographer, coach, and human being. I am eternally grateful, and I can’t wait to keep growing with this community."
