Busy first part of the week. Still have a few openings at the Fremont location for Thursday afternoon. Book a session for a spring time boost.
Happy New Year.
So I feel I need to premise this first. This is my personal experience and doesn't reflect what others might experience or expect to experience.
Some of you might know that I have experienced some cardiac issues over the past few years. The timeline does seem to follow closely with my first Covid vaccination; however in no way would I link the two situations into causation so lets not all run down that pathway.
I started noticing what has now been Diagnosed as Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) back in 2020 and over the last couple of years have had need to look for support from the Allopathic Medical community.
Tracking down appointments within the Cardiac Specialty realm is challenging first off just to get an appointment, and then to have a conversation where I feel heard either due to time constraints or “standard of care” expectations by the the medical team is extremely trying.
Fast forward to now. A change in my pattern (symptoms) that I have been tracking lead me to venturing to the ER this fall. (That could be a whole other editorial.) Following a long night in the ER I got to “short cut” the line into seeing the ER Cardiac doc the next morning. This lead to another appointment within the Cardiac Specialty a few weeks later. And much like I experienced prior I did not fit into the “standard of care” box so back to booking appointments within a sub-speciality of the Cardiac Specialty. Again, like being in the ER the strong suggestions was to get the appointment book now.
All this wrapped up in October with my next step into the evils of “specialist” this or that bla bla bla. Anyway…
3 weeks later, 4 days before my scheduled appointment with the “specialist,” who was going to take the allotted 40 minute appointment to review my previous tests, explain what those results meant, tell me what their speciality will do for me, how that relates to my situation, how that could be addressed with some procedures, and suggest some more tests. Oh and maybe with all the remaining time let me ask some questions.
Well that might have been the plan till that appointment was canceled and the next opening is 2 months out.
So clearly my situation must not be all that pressing, 2 months out and all. So the wonders of Allopathic Medical Specialty Care must have some ideas, suggestions something in the meantime while I wait for the next 2 months.
Nope.
I dont get to speak to a doc, only the front desk and only about booking an appointment. Nothing about why the other was canceled. Nothing about talking to anyone before that 2 months out appointment, without making another appointment even for a email exchange. (Some folks might know without me stating which local medical corp this just based on this new policy to charge $$ for emails to patients.)
So from when my last tests, that will be 3 full months. 3 months with no contact, no doctor or medical team check-in, no change in directions since there was no directions given in the first place, no functional improvement, and no suggestions for what to even observe, or keep track of.
Like what would indicate a need to go back to the ER? What to watch for that could indicate the situation is getting worse? Or better? Diet changes? Exercises? Hell, maybe is exercise even a good idea, or not? Let’s make it super easy and not even look at those, how about addressing blood pressure? Heart rate? Irregularity?
That 3 month wait is just for an appointment to discuss what the specialist might suggest. It doesn’t indicate a procedure that could functionally change my situation since that could be months after that 1st appointment.
WTF
There is no way I would leave my patients hanging out in the cold for 3 months without even a possible idea to address anything.
I wonder what happens to other cardiac patients? The ones that dont have any medical background or any other means to address the concerns they may have. And then I remember my ER visit in early October. That’s what happens to those other folks. The 90 people sitting, waiting in the ER, for a host of issues that could be addressed by us in complementary care practices if our “healthcare” system actually functioned. When appointments for general care are months out, and specialized appointments are even farther the Allopathic system has FAILED.
I dont place the blame for this BS on the docs, the PCP’s, the nurses, or in my situation on the Cardiac Department, or even the Cardiac Specialists or Sub-Specialists. This falls directly on the for profit medical corporations that run this completely dysfunctional system. Patient care is lost when the patient isnt even able to get in to see a practitioner or contact them without paying someone money.
Let alone all this then gets placed on the practitioners to go faster, see more folks, and pass more people back into the broken system of speciality care months and months out. This just leads to burned out due to the stress of knowing that are not able to serve their patients the way they need and want to.
Sure I would really like to get in to talk with someone sooner then 2 months. I however have confidence that I know what I can do for myself. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to bounce some ideas off of someone that has more experience then me in the cardiac world. But what about those folks that dont have the support or training that I do?
WTF Allopathic Medical world…. Figure it out.

I started working with an amazing company, Finn & Gray, to rebrand and update my services and look at the start of the year. It’s just about finished up. After almost 20 years in practice I actually have some artwork. I am really stoked with how it has come to life.
This has been a very interesting transition time for me and my practice. To actively put myself out there, even after all these years, is still revealing. Really looking at my neurodiverse traits, choices, and actions can be uncomfortable. I am stoked to have had the opportunity to work with Finn & Gray through this process.
