Spring is in the air, and we’re celebrating with a gorgeous four-bottle package that highlights everything you love about Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, plus one. Without further ado, here is a bullet-point introduction to the wine & domaines showcased in today’s email - see link above 👆🏼
Two stellar Burgundies that are showing fantastically right now: We held back 2018 Simon Bize Bourgogne Rouge "Les Perrieres" because it needed time, but it's singing now. The second? An ethereal village Puligny-Montrachet from an up-and-coming producer. The best part? They're both discountable.
Domaine Auguste Clape, Cornas: Clape Cornas is the very essence of traditionally made Northern Rhône Syrah, born of the ancient clone, "la Petite Syrah," planted in the village's best sites, blended for balance and complexity and allowed to "make itself" as much as possible.
Domaine Roulot: Few names evoke a reaction like that of Roulot and it's not hard to understand why. Since its founding in 1930, Domaine Roulot has consistently put out some of the best (if not the best) wines in all of Meursault. Few winemakers have mastered the purity and intensity that Guy and Jean-Marc have. As time goes on, Roulot continues to set the benchmark for top-notch 'White Burg.'
Domaine Dujac: The prestigious Domaine Dujac is a critically lauded wine estate in Burgundy's Morey Saint Denis founded by the passionate winemaker, Jacques Seyess. "For my palate, the style of the wines has evolved since the mid-1990's. Today they retain the elegance and finesse of older bottles but unlike a majority of producers who retain their stems (Arlot, Bourée, Prieuré-Roch etc) the aromatic influence in the Dujac bottles is becoming ever-more subtle – I think only DRC and Leroy regularly achieve this level of 'integration'." - Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
