In honor of Black History Month, we’re highlighting our Uncle Nearest collection!

Nathan ‘Nearest’ Green began making whiskey while he was still a slave, utilizing a filtration system he had learned in Africa. He taught Jack Daniel in the art of whiskey making and became the head distiller of the Jack Daniel Distillery after the civil war. Uncle Nearest’s descendent, Victoria Eady Butler, is now the master blender for Uncle Nearest Inc.

Uncle Nearest 1856 - Uncle Nearest 1856 is a blend of our premium aged whiskey. It has a caramel color with a beautiful deep golden hue. On the nose, baled hay and pumpkin seeds with subtle notes of ripe stone fruit and caramel corn. Bold and spicy upfront then mellows with sweet caramel and maple, like biting into an oatmeal raisin cookie. The finish is long and rich. It lingers pleasantly sweet on the palate with notes of vanilla after the spice dissipates.

Uncle Nearest 1884 - Uncle Nearest 1884 starts off with bright honey, orange, peach, vanilla, pineapple, bright cherry, licorice, roasted oak, lemon cream, and clove. It’s a bright, fruity, and more vibrant whiskey with a little oaky darkness, char, and spice in the back.

Uncle Nearest Rye - Uncle Nearest 100 Proof Rye gives off buttery and grainy honey, licorice, pear, caraway seed, pine, clove, eucalyptus, dried orange, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, and banana – a mix of herbal, sweet, fruity, and earthy with not much heat.

Mionetto Prosecco Brut - A refreshing sparkling wine, Mionetto Prosecco B features a shiny straw color with bright yellow highlights. Aromas of golden apples, honey and peaches greet the nose as you sip this wine. Well-balanced acidity gives the Mionetto prosecco wine a fresh mouthfeel with a clean and dry finish. The palate has aromatic notes of honey and floral hints.

Mionetto Prosecco Rose - This sparkling wine is produced by the soft pressing of selected Raboso grapes from the Piave and Trentino Lagrien area. The bright color is peach pink with deli- cate deep red glimmers. It has a delicate perlage and the foam is rich and persistent. The aroma is reminiscent of pink grapefruit, raspberry and blackcurrant with a hint of wild roses. Its taste is intense with adequate acidity, well-balanced and fresh with notes of raspberry.

The Flagship Single Malt is aged at a minimum of 40
months with flavors of: Almond nougat, crème brûlée,
black tea, white flower petals, and malted milk balls.
The Colere is a talisman malt that is aged for a
minimum of 4 years and 357 days in 1st Fill Ex-Bourbon
(58%), 2nd Fill ISC Cooper's Reserve (42%) casks with
flavors of light brown sugar, dark chocolate orange,
and mixed berry filling.

"The batch is made up of five production dates that were aged in seven different warehouses. The breakdown of barrel storage for Booker’s “The Lumberyard Batch” is as follows:
2% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse X
3% came from the 3rd floor of 7-story warehouse 5
3% came from the 4th floor of 9-story warehouse D
17% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse Z
19% came from the 5th floor of 7-story warehouse Q
28% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse 1
28% came from the 6th floor of 7-story warehouse Z
This batch was pulled during the rainy weeks ahead of the Kentucky Derby. The beautiful amber color of this batch reminds me of the horses that will compete on the racetrack. The aroma is deep with hints of vanilla and oak that lead you back to enjoy it several times to explore its depth. It has a balanced taste with a bit of sweetness and a pleasant finish that will leave you longing for another sip. My dad would be really proud to have a batch dedicated to his hard-working years at The Lumberyard and the experience this liquid delivers with every glass."
