We’re showcasing stunning sculptures by including two new pieces! Acquiring her materials from local musicians, Katie creates unique sculptures that breathe new life into broken and discarded instruments, challenging the mind’s concept of reality.
Her work will be on display in our Sound Bite Lounge on the 7th floor, with a special opening reception during the art walk on Friday, 9/13.
Stop by The Sound Hotel to enjoy the art, live music, a complimentary glass of wine, and experience the creative energy of Belltown!
The Spaces Between features new work and some old favorites by Ian Shearer. Exploring liminal spaces and contemplating what lies in the in-between. Examining what lives in limbo and the juxtaposition of the possibilities and inertia that exist there.
Within many of the works braille text merges with paint. Creating a separate experience available only to those that can read it. These bits of stories influence the direction of the paintings, but remain hidden from viewer's eyes. Existing in the "in-between" they question who exactly is disabled and who is not.
Coming September 13 - October 5 to Slip Gallery is a group show which investigates what the artists and their community bring to the table, figuratively and literally. Artists across mediums and disciplines will display food-themed artworks that explore topics like basic needs, relationships, memories, value, and expectations. Through mediums like glass, video, collage, painting, and thread, as well as several collaborative and interactive works, the artists create an atmosphere that mimics the exchange of meals and the community that surrounds it. Curated by Alaina Stocker.
