Miri Cypers, Anti-Defamation League
Please join Miri Cypers, Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League’s Pacific Northwest Office, for a presentation on the current climate of antisemitism, hate and extremism and strategies for building safer, more inclusive communities. The presentation will discuss ADL’s local work to combat hate through education, advocacy, community building, and tracking and speaking out to create a better informed public.

Members gathered for a fourth Wednesday service activity in support of Wellspring Family Services this afternoon! Thanks to all our members that joined us today at the Rotary Support Center for Families.
During our Centennial year in 2009, our club raised over $4 million for Wellspring Family Services to build the Rotary Support Center for Families. Rotarians made five-year pledges toward this milestone project that enabled Wellspring Family Services to add depth and breadth to programs they currently offer and consider new options to meet emerging needs.

Annual Diplomacy Program
Our April 17 meeting features our annual Diplomacy Day event in partnership with the Consular Association of Washington and the Rotary Clubs of District 5030. This year's main program will be a panel discussion titled "Rapidly Emerging Ties between the Pacific Northwest and South Asia" featuring panelists Consul General Prakash Gupta of the new Consulate General of India in Seattle, Dr. Radhika Govindrajan, Director of the South Asia Center of the University of Washington, and Sital Kalantry, JD, Director of the RoundGlass India Center of Seattle University.

In 1944, Seattle's Rotary Youth Foundation embarked on its first major project, one that our club continues to support 80 years later: the Rotary Boys and Girls Club (RBGC)! He hands out green-handled harvest knives and leads the group....
Our charitable arm, the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation, announced the club-chosen winner of their Community Impact Grant last week. Out of almost 30 grant applications received, Pike Place Market Foundation was picked by club member vote to receive a $100,000 grant!
Pike Place Market Foundation will be using these funds to support their Pike Place Market Food Access Program, which provides food to the community through a food bank, no-cook food bags, CSA produce bags, and market coupons to around 20,000 locals annually. Club members will be involved in the organization's efforts as well!

It was a historic day for our club as we gathered at the UW Consulting & Business Development Center to celebrate our long partnership with the school through our Business Mentors program. Last night, our club's charitable arm, the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF), hosted club members at the Rainier Club to hear from three finalists vieing for a $100,000 Community Impact Grant. Members heard 10 minute pitches for projects from Consumer and Education Training Services (CENTS), Pike Place Market Foundation, and Washington Building Leaders of Change (WA-BLOC). Members will be voting on the ultimate winner soon. Thank you to the finalists and club members that attended this dynamic event!

Our very own Education committee held an impactful event last night at the Seattle Public Library-Central Library raising awareness of an often-overlooked educational epidemic in the United States - illiteracy. This even was open to the public and could not have been possible without the help of our Education committee co-chairs, Lori Walker and Dr. Tatyana Tsrylina-Spady, assisting club members, Chris Nakea and Rotary District 5030. The demographics of boaters are changing rapidly and so is the workforce that is vital for the $8 billion Washington state recreational boating and fishing economy. George will share highlights of Core Plus Maritime, a Washington based high school curriculum in 26 high schools across the state that prepares students for careers in the maritime industry during his short program
