The idea of downsizing can be enough to want to throw in the towel before even beginning. But in the end, it’s doable! Careful planning and good support can make it a manageable and even liberating experience.

Our first suggestion before beginning to downsize is to give yourself time. The roller coaster toll of downsizing a home can’t be underestimated. It’s not just about moving to a new place, it’s about leaving the home that holds so many memories. It’s not unusual to feel loss and nostalgia while thinking about moving from your home. This needs to be acknowledged and that’s why we suggest starting the process early, so that the time for reflection is given the time it deserves.
