We at Cashmere wish to thank the amazing professionals who keep Sturdy Memorial Hospital running during this international crisis.

The staff at our local hospitals are working long hours on the frontlines of this pandemic, and the nature of their work puts them at a much higher risk of exposure to the virus.

Without their dedication and talents, we’d be in far worse condition.

To show our gratitude, the Cashmere management team spent our last day before closing for quarantine preparing and delivering hot meals for the extraordinary folk working this afternoon.

Although we have been open for a short time, we at Cashmere Bistro & Tavern recognize our place in our community and we strive to do what we can to celebrate and serve those who help to make our neighborhoods safe, strong, and vibrant.

During this uncertain time, we are calling on our colleagues in the restaurant industry to donate unused products to healthcare professionals and first responders.

Since restaurants are closed for the foreseeable future, we all have many perishable products in our kitchens. If these are not sold, they will go to waste.

We ask that rather than put your food in your waste logs, you use it to strengthen and celebrate the members of our community who are working the most dangerous jobs during this epidemic.

Healthcare personnel, firefighters, police officers, members of the national guard, and so forth, are working on the front lines of this crisis and are at an increased risk of exposure.

Amid all the confusion and uncertainty, we restaurant professionals have a unique opportunity to a make small but impactful gestures to these individuals.

By providing them with a professionally prepared meal free of charge, we can remind them that they are appreciated, respected, and valued members of our community — that they are making a great difference in this simmering chaos.

Please, reach out to a hospital, urgent care facility, fire or police department and arrange to drop off individually-wrapped prepared meals.

Let them know we’re not only thinking of the safety of ourselves, but that we are also thinking of the risks they are taking and the necessary services they are providing.

Join us in our efforts to strengthen those of us who need to be strongest during our hour of need.

Let’s pay it forward.

Dear valued guest,

As businesses around the country are implementing additional safety measures in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, we at Cashmere Bistro & Tavern want to reach out to our community and reassure our customers that your safety always has been, and will continue to be, our top priority.

Although we opened just a short time ago, we have taken proper sanitation and food handling procedures very seriously from the beginning:

-- Many of our staff members are ServeSafe certified.

-- The evaluation of our facility and practices from the Massachusetts Board of Health was reported as flawless.

-- And we continue to rigorously sanitize high human contact areas like bathrooms, banisters, chairs, doors, and tables.

Restaurants must always adhere to strict sanitizing protocol to continuously prevent the spread of a multitude of contagions, which positions us in relatively favorable circumstances amid this outbreak.

These are exceptional times, however, and we recognize the call for exceptional preventative measures. Be assured that we are closely adhering to the guidelines of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control.

For this reason we have:

-- Mandated that all service staff wear protective gloves, which will be replaced with fresh, sanitized gloves routinely, throughout the shift

-- That each employee increase hand washing frequency twofold

-- Informed all staff members of preventative practices for outside the workplace

-- Directed all staff members to remain at home if they begin to express any symptoms of illness

It is a harsh reality that in addition to the stress of this outbreak, individuals who work in this industry may suffer additional financial stress due to diminished business as more and more of our community chooses to self-quarantine.

As we do not know how long this will last, or what effects it will have on our economy, we encourage you to continue to have confidence in our commitment to your safety, and to not allow this outbreak to interrupt your patronage to our — or any — business.

We do plan to continue doing business as usual and to serve our community, although we will slightly reduce our operating hours by closing an hour earlier each evening.
