π‘β¨ The City of Sheboygan is excited to announce the availability of funds for the 2024 Community Development Block (CDBG) Grant β Public Service application! ππ€
π° Estimated at $175,000, with potential for additional funds, the CDBG grant supports non-profit agencies addressing crucial community needs. To qualify, agencies must be established non-profit public or private entities.
π― Priority areas include:
1οΈβ£ Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
2οΈβ£ Homelessness Prevention and Homeless Shelters
3οΈβ£ Domestic Violence Programs
4οΈβ£ Solutions for housing issues, particularly in Asian Households (identified in CHAS data**)
5οΈβ£ Youth Services and Housing for Homeless Youth
6οΈβ£ Childcare Assistance
7οΈβ£ Health and Dental Care Services

π Lisa came to us with a plethora of experience in education making a difference in the lives of youth and families. In her role at United Way, she continues to shine bright, think big and make an incredible impact in our community. Her dedication, passion, empathy and hard work never cease to amaze us. We can always count on Lisa to jump in and lend a hand where needed, bring the energy, ask good questions/be curious, and share a welcomed laugh. Lisa soars high as she leads our Volunteer Center of Sheboygan County and we are grateful she took that chance on us when moving sectors. You might even happen to walk past her office and hear !

Every 6 Months, the Point-In-Time (PIT) Homeless Count is conducted to help identify services needed in our community in order to best help those unsheltered.
π§π΅π² π‘π²π²π±: Looking for volunteers to cover the 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. shift and the 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. shift. Training will be provided.

The Sheboygan County Warming Center needs you! Did you know it takes more than 200 volunteers to keep the Warming Center open from Dec. 4 - April 15?

Last year, 110 individuals found shelter at the Warming Center averaging 22 per night, and they're anticipating serving as many - if not more - this year.

We're getting so excited for Rotary Making Spirits Bright's 2023 season to kick off! ππ₯«π
Admission to the event is free of charge, but donating nutritious, unexpired food items is highly encouraged. As you stock up on ingredients for your holiday meals over the next month, grab a little extra to help support local families who are having an especially tough year making ends meet. π
Making Spirits Bright is open every night, Nov. 24 β Dec. 31, from 5:00 PM β 9:00 PM (closed on Dec. 24).
We filled the beautiful and historic Miley Barn earlier this week with nonprofit professionals coming together for a "Build Compassion Resiliency for You and Your Team" workshop. Gratitude to our host site Nourish Farms and presenters Hanna Maechtle with Rogers Behavioral Health and Julie Preder with Mental Health America Lakeshore - MHA. Thank you to the incredible advisory team of local nonprofit professionals for organizing. The food, enriching lessons, and company were phenomenal!
