These VYJ ladies had a wonderful time at YWCA of Northwest Louisiana's 7th Annual Women Who Care, Share Luncheon. The YWCA has a variety of programs dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all for over 160 years. Thank you for all you do in our community!
Superhero [ soo-per-heer-oh ]
1 a morally righteous hero in a fictional work who possesses extraordinary abilities or supernatural powers and uses them to fight evil, as in comic books and movies:
We see Webster's point, but our superheroes aren't fictional. They are very real men and women who are an integral part of carrying out our mission to provide a community caring for children, youth, and families in crisis. The 2024 CASA Superhero Run is a way you can do just that!
Now that we have all recovered from the whirlwind of last weekend, we can show you what VYJ was up to during the Humor and Harmony Festival weekend. As we do so well, we held down the fort at Festival Plaza manning the 50Fit inflatable obstacle course. We had a blast and loved getting to partner with the G-Unity Foundation as we share a similar mission. We are already excited for next year and can't wait to see this event flourish and grow in our city!
Come see the development team at Kendra Scott on Saturday August 17th from 12:00-2:00 and treat yoself while you're at it! Kendra Scott will be donating 20% of the proceeds to Volunteers for Youth Justice!
TASC Director Shannon Wyche spoke to the Rotary Club of Shreveport about school attendance and engagement after COVID. Across the nation, schools are facing alarming numbers of students absent from school, especially amongst our youngest elementary students. Shannon spoke about what is needed to improve school attendance nationwide and the data trends here in our parish as well as how the VYJ TASC program is addressing truancy and declining parent engagement here in our local public education system.
