Not everyone is out to “move your cheese.” Some of us truly care about people and understand that it’s normal and ok to “agree to disagree.” We only get one life and we have no way of knowing when it will end. While visiting small towns throughout Caddo yesterday, I was driving a large box truck when I encountered this heading my way. As you can see, it’s wider than the road. I couldn’t tell if he was looking at the road so I moved over to the shoulder and wiped out this sweet lady’s mailbox. After an hour or so, we had the mailbox repaired✅, scarecrow back up✅,a sign in the yard✅, and a loyal friend.❤️ Thank you Jerry Hasty for always “Showing up and showing out!”

I am very GRATEFUL for our 100% loyal friends. I’d rather live in a small house with a few “things” than live life without our wonderful circle of friends. Below, this individual and his sweet wife who have always gone the extra mile for us without asking for anything aside from friendship. As a every day “jeans, boots, and ball-cap” guy, I understand, as your Sheriff, there will be many days days that different attire is necessary. What makes me different as it relates to the office of Sheriff and as a candidate for the office?
1.) I am NOT a puppet. No one instructed me to run. Therefore, no special interest group or individual will own me.
2.) I have over 18 years of law enforcement experience in addition to juvenile court experience prior to that. I am also well-versed in real estate, construction, and criminal law.
3.) I have no criminal history, drug use or abuse, alcohol issues, etc.
4.) I have no temper. I have the ability to treat my worst enemy with the same compassion and professionalism as I would a close friend or relative.
5.) This one is important. I am despised by the dirtiest and most corrupt group of misfits in N. Louisiana. I live “rent-free” in their hearts, minds, and heads 24/7.

It’s safe to assume that I have spent more time, money, and effort in running for Caddo Sheriff than anyone else in my lifetime. Why? It’s obvious that I’m not looking for notoriety, not wealthy, and do not “need” a job. The answer is simple. I may be one of few, but I love Caddo Parish. I also know that I am in it for the right reasons. I have no endorsements. Therefore, no one is pulling my strings and no one put me up to it. (Nor do I think anyone put HW up to it)
I (with your support and input) want to make Caddo Parish a SAFE place to raise a family. I can and will be fair, honest, transparent, kind, and tough on REAL crime.

Notice that the small group of 5 or 6 bottom-feeders that are relentlessly obsessed with my family have a lot to lose if I win as I will be fair, impartial, and will NOT cater to hatred or bullying simply because they want to keep the millions in contract money with the Sheriff’s office.

As it relates to my decision to run for the office of Caddo Parish Sheriff, my family and I have discussed this decision at length and have prayed for a safe and clean race for all candidates who choose to enter the race. As a candidate for Caddo Parish Sheriff, I intend to do my very best to earn the voters’ trust for the honor to serve as their Sheriff, and to continue to earn their confidence and trust every day that I put on the uniform in service to the public, and to never forget how vital this office is to our community.

My focus is on my race as a candidate for Sheriff. I am not running “against” anyone as it pertains to making it personal about any other candidate. I have a great deal of respect for the current candidate that has formally announced his candidacy. I am simply running for the office of Caddo Parish Sheriff as it is a race that I would love to win for every citizen of Caddo Parish.

Any issues or differences of opinion that may have existed prior to this decision are in the past. My mission is in forward motion.

I have been in law enforcement for close to (20) years. One of my first cases as a juvenile Court-Appointed Special Advocate in Caddo Juvenile Court involved a young child who was locked in a room with a padlocked door and starved until his death. That child suffered as his sisters snuck candy under his door in an attempt to keep him alive. That case lead me to a career in law enforcement in hopes of helping others who may be in need, as well as working with other skilled professionals within our judicial system who share my same passion for honest justice accompanied by a moral compass.

If elected, my focus will be on a safer Caddo Parish for all citizens. My family is from Caddo Parish and we have always lived here. My family members have been in law enforcement in Caddo Parish in some capacity for almost 100 years, ranging from Constables, Marshall, CSO Captain at the Caddo Jail, Assistant Attorney General, and to myself as a deputy and elected Constable for (14) years. For me, law enforcement has always been, and will continue to be, a fair and honorable call to service.

If elected, I will be a local approachable Sheriff that does and will continue to reside in Caddo Parish. I will treat every citizen and deputy with respect and kindness. Bullying, discrimination, and/or harassment will not be tolerated as the Sheriff cannot be respected if he or she is a team of “1.”

The taxpayers can expect honesty, transparency, and a Sheriff who will be tough on real crime and truly careful with the taxpayers money. The budget and expenditures will be an open book.

I will utilize the expertise that currently exists within the department to dissect, address, correct, and restructure the Caddo Parish Jail.

As I stated in 2015, within my plan that remains the same, I will enlist the assistance of qualified Caddo Parish citizens to form a Citizens Advisory Board that will be afforded to any and all deputies who may otherwise be directly terminated by an “at-will” employer.

I will revamp the secret vault otherwise knows as “ internal affairs” in an effort to earn respect and trust from the citizens we are sworn to serve.

As a lifelong resident of Caddo Parish I remember a truly amazing childhood in Shreveport. We were safe to walk the streets of neighborhoods, safe at ballparks, and safe at school. As a father of 5 children, I am involved in their schools along with many other parents. We foresee the potential for harm that was almost nonexistent years ago and we are grateful for the SRO officers that stand guard to protect our children. Together, we can make Shreveport a safer place to grow up.
