It takes a City! A Big Thank You to all the Volunteers!
The ASEANA Foundation thank all the volunteers that came out this Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport at 800 Texas Ave. Downtown Shreveport to help work, clean, plant, pull out weeds, install marble stone ground covers, paint the stone garden accents and Japanese bridge. We always pray that this is about gratitude to serve our God through the work of our hands. Truly heartwarming to see people of different race, color, church denomination, residents and building owners, professionals and health workers, students and city official come together united! We appreciate and enjoy meeting the board members and Volunteers: John Selloriquez, Leah Selloriquez, Rayonia Colbert, Bing CHENG, Mary Grace De Joya Vea, Alex Cheung, Vien Wheeler, Emmie Reynier, Liz Swaine of DDA, David Nelson, Ro Williams of Shreveport Common, Feico Kempff of Red River Rotary Club, Owen Huffer, Steven Wagner-Young, Brandy Rolland, Eric Loesch, Genalyn Loesch of Home Bible Study (HBS), Allyssa Allen, Lesa McDonald of Master Gardener, Lonnie Edwards, Tina Hine, and our security Officer Mo.

The ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport is meant to be a serene place for people of different ancestry to gather together. We hope that this will be a place to foster unity amidst diversity. Thank you to the Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation ( SPAR), the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), the ASEANA Foundation board members past and present, Friends of ASEANA volunteers, Government officials past and present, the Indian Studies Association, the Vietnamese, Filipino, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Indonesian, Cambodian, Korean, and Malaysian community.

Truly it takes a city of diverse ancestry working together to build the ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport. It was as in the words of volunteer Steven Wagner Young “a fun day”! We hope you can come to the ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport in our next Volunteer Day! It is indeed a fun day to meet the community, be grateful and United! It takes a City!

*The ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport was created by Asians who want to give back to the city and country we now call home. The ASEANA Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization was created for this purpose. We are all volunteers and no one is given compensation or salary. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and go to the garden and the annual Asian festivals.
