THE STATE FAIR OF LOUISIANA
ANNOUNCES THE 118TH ANNUAL STATE FAIR


SHREVEPORT, LA.
Mark your calendars for the 118th running of The State Fair of Louisiana, October 30th through November 17th at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in Shreveport.

The Fair is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but this year we are going to celebrate election day by being open on Tuesday, November 5th! We encourage everyone to go vote, then come out and enjoy a day (and evening) of rides, games and food.

Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. While at the fair, you will find shows and attractions, plenty of live music, and the largest livestock show in the state, all free with state fair gate admission. Special events will include the LRCA Finals Rodeo, Veterans Day Parade, Faith at the Fair, and Latino Day.

WE HAVE SOME BIG CHANGES TO ANNOUNCE!

The Carnival is going to look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT this year!
This year, Talley Amusements, one of the top midway providers in the country, is bringing a new look to the State Fair of Louisiana. As fairgoers enter the main gate, they will experience a grand entrance, new-to-the-region spectacular state-of-the art rides, and thousands of LED lights.
Need to charge your phone or change a diaper while at the fair? Talley will also be providing free charging stations and diaper changing stations, and you’ll be able to meet and take selfies with Talley Amusements’ mascot, Lil Tate.

UPDATED safety policies, including a new CLEAR BAG policy
The State Fair is updating the policy on bags brought onto the fairgrounds to be more aligned with other national, regional and local events.
Clear Bag Policy/ Approved Bags
• Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” – a logo no larger than 4.5” x 3.5” can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
• One -gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” -approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
• Clear F***y packs or backpacks that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” – a logo no larger than 4.5” x 3.5” can be displayed on one side.
• Medically necessary items (after proper inspection).
• Diaper bags must be accompanied by a baby (after proper inspection).
• Soft sided coolers for infants/family or dietary needs (after proper inspection).
• All bags will be subject to search upon arrival and entry. Any bags or carry items that do not meet the approved criteria must be returned to vehicles.
Note: All bags will be subject to search upon arrival and any bag that exceeds the permitted size will result in denied entry.

STATE FAIR DISCOUNTS
The Advanced Discount Ticket Sale Campaign will begin on Monday, September 23rd and will run through October 29th. Advanced purchase provides savings of $5 to $10 per ticket!
Advanced tickets can be purchased online at statefairoflouisiana.com or at participating Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods grocery stores.

Parking will be free for the entire run of the Fair.

State Fair Weekday Discounts
Opening day is October 30th and gate admission is $5.00
Halloween (Thursday, Oct. 31) is Three Dollar Day. ($3 admission and $3 rides.)
Gate Admission is free on weekdays until 3:00 p.m.
On Wednesdays after 3:00 p.m., gate admission is half price.
On Thursdays, gate admission is half price.
On Election Day Tuesday November 5th, gate admission is $5.00

ANNOUNCES NEW CARNIVAL COMPANY

SHREVEPORT, LA.
The State Fair of Louisiana is thrilled to announce our partnership with Talley Amusements to create an extraordinary carnival experience for our attendees. Known for their exceptional work at fairs across the nation, including the Ohio State Fair, Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and the State Fair of Texas. Talley Amusements will bring their expertise to elevate our fair to new heights. Talley Amusements vision creates a permanent park atmosphere that’s dedicated to creating fun and unforgettable experiences for our guests.

The 2024 State Fair of Louisiana is scheduled to run from October 30th to November 17th (Closed on Mondays & Tuesdays, with the primary goal of creating a safe and friendly atmosphere for families to come out, have a great time and make memories.
Operating hours will be from 11am to 10pm on weekdays and from 10am to 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Louisiana Pressure Fest Car, Truck, Bike and Audio Show

This event will kick off Louisiana’s Car Show season by displaying some of the best cars, trucks & bikes that the “Bayou State” has to offer. This event will also feature special guests from Florida, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi and more. Over 30 trophies will be awarded as well as special honorees from across the state. State Fair of Louisiana Names General Manager

Shreveport, LA – At a recent meeting of the State Fair of Louisiana Executive Board, interim State Fair President and General Manager Robb Brazzel was unanimously confirmed as the President and General Manager.

Brazzel assumed the interim position in June of 2023 and immediately began preparations for the 2023 State Fair, which was just months away.

"Robb didn't really need any on the job training," says Liz Swaine, State Fair Executive Board Chairman. "He had an absolutely overwhelming number of things to do to prepare for our biggest event of the year, and he dove right in. It was like the old saying 'How do you eat an elephant?' He ate it a bite at a time."

Brazzel’s experience with the State Fair spans more than 16 years, during which he has held roles ranging from maintenance to managing exhibits and concessions, sponsorships, to booking attractions and music entertainment. He is a 2019 graduate of the International Association of Fairs and Expos (IAFE) Institute of Fair Management program.

He wasted no time in addressing critical tasks such as renegotiating contracts, hiring staff, enhancing safety and security measures and adding free parking for fairgoers and a lower price child's ticket. Under his leadership, a new State Fair Admissions Policy was introduced in 2023, receiving rave reviews and contributing to a year with zero fights or public safety issues on the fairgrounds.

"Our main focus in 2023 was on families and safety; it was our top priority. Moving forward, my team and I will remain dedicated to upholding this commitment to safety and ensuring that families can enjoy the State Fair of Louisiana with peace of mind” says Brazzel.
"I am grateful to have such a dedicated team around me," says Brazzel. "They work tirelessly and have an incredible level of dedication to the State Fair of Louisiana. It was very clear to me during last year’s fair that everyone on the team shares the same passion and commitment that I have for this organization. I consider myself very fortunate to lead this team."

Looking ahead to the 2024 State Fair, Brazzel is already implementing more changes, which will include introducing a new Carnival Company with a wider array of rides and attractions.

"The State Fair is our live or die event," says Swaine. "The board is confident that Robb will continue to do his best to make it an event that we can all be proud to call our own."
