I always like to remind people that when you’re counting calories…they aren’t always equal! the chocolate frosted donut is 340 calories while the bowl of steel cut oats with berries and nuts are 360 calories! Always remember quality over quantity. 🙂 It makes a huge difference when it comes to weight loss!

So, it’s homemade black bean burger night at the Pittman house and I wanted to share a way I make my burgers just a little bit healthier…you can grind up oats and use them in place of bread crumbs! It immediately makes your burger have more fiber with less “stuff” in it as opposed to breadcrumbs! You’re welcome. 🙂

Hi everyone! It has been awhile!! I had to take a leave from NWA, but I am back in full swing! Here’s two reasons why you should contact me:

When I snack, I make it count. I went for a nutrient dense delicious snack! I made chunky guacamole 🤤 so good! All it is: 2 avocados, tomato, red onion, lime juice, salt and Chile lime seasoning.

I could not agree with this more. I always tell my clients - there is a difference between being thin and being healthy. Let’s never lose sight of that. I’m not saying if you are thin you’re not healthy...but sometimes if you’re getting frustrated that the scale might not say the number that you want...how has your diet and lifestyle change improved your arteries, blood cholesterol, blood sugar, digestive system, etc. You would be amazed if you compared your blood work before and after a GOOD “diet” and lifestyle change. You aren’t just getting thin...your improving your WHOLE body overall. Stay focused. 😊

I was craving mozzarella sticks today!! I had two choices...the meal on the left at an estimated 750 calories or the meal on the right with an estimated 450 calories.

I didn't want to restrict my craving so I decided to balance my plate. This saved me half of the calories! Not to mention the difference in saturated fat and cholesterol.

The lesson here is - don't restrict your cravings, in fact, that's when binging tends to happen. Let yourself have what you want but learn how to balance it out!

Who knew mozzarella sticks could be part of a healthy diet! 🤷‍♀️

Making homemade oatmeal for breakfast! Today is a perfect day for oatmeal. I used rolled oats and added in some cranberries, pumpkin seeds and a little bit of brown sugar and maple syrup! Delicious! And look at the nutrition facts on oats! 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein!!! With very little fat and 0 mg of sodium! Oats are one of my favorite healthy foods. Happy snow day! 😊 ⛄️

I can’t believe tomorrow is thanksgiving!! If you would like to fully enjoy the day but not want to add inches to your waistline here are a few tips I put together to help you!

1) Eat breakfast. If you skip, you are more likely to binge at the thanksgiving table. You can fully enjoy all the food that’s there, but if you eat breakfast you probably won’t need seconds!

2) Make sure you combine your macronutrients together. It’s easy to just fill up on stuffing, cornbread and mashed potatoes but protein will help to fill you up and decrease that big crash you get after eating your meal. (Most say it’s from the tryptophan in the turkey but it’s actually from eating such a big meal that your blood sugar has a big spike and then you crash back down making you tired.)

3) Make sure you have your veggies. Filling half of your plate up with veggies will help to take smaller portions of everything else. Again, you can still enjoy all of the foods on the table just in smaller portions!

4) Dont sit right next to the buffet table. You’re more apt to keep eating just because you’re sitting there.

5) Carry gum with you. After you’re eating pop in a piece of gum and that will help you from overeating.

6) Choose your calories wisely. Don’t waste them on something you don’t really care to eat and just because it’s there.

7) Pumpkin pie is probably one of the lower calorie options at the dessert table. Or, have a smaller portion of your favorite dessert.

8 ) Watch our for how much you drink. Beverages like eggnog can REALLY add up. Alcohol too...even if it’s a clear alcohol it still has calories!
