As we wrap up we want to remind you about the importance of wearing certified eye protection if appropriate your job. 🥽 And if you work in a career that involves long hours in front of a computer, remember the 20-20-20 rule: for every 20 minutes you look at a screen, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds, to minimize eye strain. 💻👀

Dr. Stark is a board-certified Ophthalmologist with over 35 years of experience in cataract surgery and has been on the forefront of laser-assisted cataract surgery since its inception. In honor of Dr. Ward shares the following, "Eye doctors can check for macular degeneration as part of a comprehensive dilated eye examination. If macular degeneration is diagnosed early, you can take steps to help slow its progression."

Dr. Ward graduated from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1992 and completed an Ocular Disease Residency at Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Ward’s specialties include glaucoma, dry eye disease, and corneal disease. He established the first dedicated Dry Eye Center in West Central Ohio at Valley Eye Institute. Dr. Ward’s son is currently in his 3rd year of optometry at Indiana College of Optometry and his daughter is professional dancer in Cincinnati, OH.

In honor of Dr. Bornhorst shares the following, "The words “macular degeneration“ are not fun for any patient to hear. Fortunately, though, technology and treatments are improving, and with proper monitoring, often times vision loss can be avoided."

Dr. Bornhorst has been practicing optometry for 20 years. He offers a wide range of medical eye care including the treatment and management of diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, injuries, infections, and pre and post-surgical management. Dr. Bornhorst is married to an elementary school teacher, and they have two children and a puppy.

In honor of Dr. Jim Rademacher shares the following: "As with nearly all medical conditions, early diagnosis of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) greatly impacts the success of treatment. That is why we encourage all adults to get regular dilated exams with an eye doctor, and to call their doctor as soon as they have vision changes."

Dr. Rademacher's ophthalmological interests include comprehensive ophthalmology, especially advanced and refractive cataract surgery, as well as medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Outside the office, Dr. Rademacher golf, traveling and spending time with his wife and three grown children.

In honor of we celebrate the contributions of Patricia Bath, MD to the field of . Dr. Bath is most well known as the inventor of laser surgery and the first African American to complete a residency in ophthalmology. She was the first female faculty member in the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute’s Department of Ophthalmology, the first U.S. woman to serve as chair of an ophthalmology residency training program, and the first African American female doctor to receive a patent for a medical invention. She also co-founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness.
