Estimating adult size of a toy poodle puppy is more accurate at 10 to 12 weeks old. It’s not exact science.

I just don't understand why people think that when it comes to a dog they have to have the cheapest dog they can buy. Cheap dogs are usually not coming from a good background and the parents of the puppies are the ones that suffer.
And how about all the hours and work and effort that good reputable breeders invest in raising a healthy litter of puppies. How about all the traveling I can't do because I won't leave my dogs. How about the sleepless nights delivering puppies right by the side of my girls to make sure there are no problems. The hours and hours bathing and grooming our dogs, driving them to the Vet, clipping their nails and brushing them. Cleaning and picking up dog p**p, washing dog beds and puppy pads. The hours spent talking, texting, emailing people that want a puppy and then don't show up to appointments. The family gatherings and birthdays and holidays we miss because we are taking care of our dogs. Collecting samples and filling out forms to do genetic testing of our dogs to make sure they are healthy and will not produce puppies with genetic illnesses and birth defects. Making sure our dogs are happy and healthy and the pregnant moms are fed more often. Petting and loving the dogs sometimes wishing we had more than two hands to soothe and pet them. Making sure they play outside and get enough exercise and sunlight and fresh air.
Getting attached to the puppies and then letting them go.
Providing high quality food and nutritional supplements. And much more.....

When you get your 8 week old puppies, please keep these images in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

When you're letting your puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.
