- Did you know that there are four different BioSafety Levels (BSLs) that labs are categorized into based on the level of risk associated with the work being done? BSL-1 is for basic laboratory work, while BSL-4 is for the most dangerous work with highly infectious agents like Ebola. Stay safe and stay informed!

In celebration of Black History Month, we are spotlighting James Louviere, a Founding Principal of LSY Architects. Under James’ leadership, LSY was at the forefront of designing research facilities in the face of rapidly emerging diseases and unprecedented public health threats. LSY’s approach emphasized collaboration between architecture and science to create a new generation of flexible research facilities that could meet the challenge of ever-changing research needs. LSY has served federal, state, and private sector research institutions for over two decades, and today is nationally recognized for its expertise. James attributes the firm’s success in large part to LSY’s commitment to diversity in its workforce.
