Inspired by a shared interest in sustainable design and artfully crafted buildings, we established Gardner Architects (formerly Gardner Mohr Architects) in 2003. We bring to our practice a detail-oriented approach to building design, developed over two decades of professional practice working on a range of projects from large scale commercial and institutional buildings to private homes in the Washington DC metropolitan areas as well as regions near and far.
There’s nothing like a client meeting onsite! First client presentation with , for a new project together; a family retreat on a mountain just west of the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve. Topography, hydrography, solar access, forest conservation, followed by three options embracing the concept of “engawa”, formed the backbone of the discussion.

Last days - garden, . One of the loveliest gardens in Japan, with among other things its vast landscape of blooming snow rather than cherry blooms.
