POSH Day 11 : Strength

I did this piece back at on after an emotional evening. I remember laughing with Jo at how many times I restarted the moon…and the legs…and the whole thing. Eventually I gave up, placed the moon in the crook of her elbow and joked that people would just have to wonder what she was holding up when it eventually faded first.
I will never forget what Jo’s response was, and I could think of only that for weeks afterward.
And what did Jo say to me after I joked about what she’s holding up?

“Maybe she’s letting go of all the insecurities and all those things she doesn’t HAVE to hold onto”

When I say that response hit me in the CORE of my BEING and I felt sooooo perceived at that moment, well there’s a reason it’s stuck with me so long.

We always need those friends who aren’t afraid to call us out when we need it, the friends that boost us up, and those who create magical moments when we’re together.



You may not remember it but thank you for being part of any incredibly magical poignant moment when I needed. 💚💚

Day 9 Non Dominant henna
I loved the piece I did last night so much that I wanted more solid full on my other palm as well! I kept it simple since it’s late and kept the same amount of lines as the other hand. Those tiny lines are so hard to keep straight when you’re using your opposite hand!

Also check out the 24 hour stain from my other hand! I’m in love! Can’t wait to see if it gets any darker!

Thank you to for having me out for their homecoming celebration last week! It was so busy I barely had time to take any photos at all, but it was an amazing and huge celebration!

Still giggling over this henna piece I did with Henna Booth at the last weekend. There was a request for a wiener dog, and I ended up asking for a photo of the clients dog…this was her favorite photo of her dog in her phone so of course I said yes! 🤣💚 wish I had the real photo to show the comparison! But I think we all got a good laugh after it was finished.

One of my favorites from was doing this little Jiji from . I always want to incorporate more designs into omamoris and other “framing options” ( ) and had the perfect opportunity to have the little cartoon cat popping out from the charm itself.

Some fun favorites for working at with two weekends ago! I had such a fun time getting work with such a talented friend and getting to nerd out with so many people over the weekend!

It was a fabulous weekend filled with amazing returning friends, familiar faces, new comers and of course the best team I could ask for!
What a joy it was to work beside .artistry.mn and for the weekend! Can’t wait. To have you all back next year for another festival weekend!

So excited to be at Brookings Arts in the Park festival this weekend July 8-9. And to have such amazing artists and good friends and .artistry.mn coming down to help out!!

Our tent is a bright blue this year…same spot as always! But we look a little different this time. Come early to beat the crowds and the line!

Fun fact - I sketched and applied everything upside down and just PRAYED it looked okay when it was done and upright! 🤣💚
Design is done in Jagua - which is NOT black henna but instead a fruit gel that stains dark navy instead of henna’s dark brown mahogany color.

A fun Stitch request from during this past weekend! Using techniques from the brushwork class that and I taught together.

Missing all of my henna friends that I spent the most glorious weekend with last week at . Getting to teach reminds me of how much I love our community and teaching with my bestie and watching teach and share her nuggets of design wisdom was exceptionally delightful!
As I head into the week of crazy and dive headlong into upcoming events and appointments I’m going to take those emotions and wonderful feelings with me and pass them along. 💚
Big hugs and love to all the friends and family who showed up this weekend, whether you were there the whole time or only for a quick visit, and to those who were there in collective spirit as we talked and reminisced and wished you were here!

Day 17 Triangles

It’s a little bit different with all the digital today but I’m working around little man’s schedule since he’s having his double knee surgery this morning. So I’m sketching from the waiting room in the hospital. (At least it’s keeping me occupied!)

I think this would be a fun forearm or calf piece no??

Day 15 Meditation

I know a lot of people think of meditation as exclusively yoga. But I think there’s so much to be said about walking through nature, being grounded, singing in joy, and understanding your grief that can be a part of meditation as well. I was initially going to a mandala since I really focus and breathe whenever I design a really intense mandala. But I saw this quote this morning “I am safe, calm, and enough.” And it seemed so perfect that I had to do something around that.

So whatever meditation means to you, whether it’s something calming, something that gets your out of your own head, or even self affirmations, I hope you gift yourself more of that this year. 💚

Day 6 TEXTILE PATTERN

We’ll friends can’t win them all 🤣
I had every intention of doing more with this Ottoman Filigree design but I’ve got a sick kid at home and my focus is on him. Plus my brain stopped working and I’m not sure where I’d go with it anymore. Maybe I’ll try again when the prompts are over! 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes we’re really happy with our drawings and prompts and artwork…and sometimes we just have to show that our brains struggle too!

Day 3 FILIGREE

I was ridiculously inspired by and how the seem to just effortlessly combine portraiture with so many other elements. So I wanted to try my hand at incorporating the filigree prompt into a portrait.
Honestly their tattoo work is mind blowing and I highly recommend checking them out!! 💚

I don’t often get asked for traditional henna designs but my wonderful client today showed up with several inspiration images and an idea in her head so of course I’m here to help!
It’s always refreshing (and a bit harrowing sometimes) to work outside my comfort zone but I do love getting to flex some of those brain muscles that I don’t use on a regular basis….especially when asked to keep things really symmetrical and identical.
