“It’s easy and pretty common for a person to write another transformation story about how Burn Boot Camp Evanston helped them work out regularly and switch up their eating habits in order to lose weight and gain muscle. I’d like to offer another angle to how this amazing community can help one transform.
Before joining Burn, I was working out by myself at home by doing on-demand workouts and using my own weights. I’ve been doing this for years. My source of motivation was beating myself up during workouts. “What’s wrong with you? Pick that up! Stop slacking! You’re so weak!” I’ve always worked out at home, so I was a captive audience to these negative voices, and I thought that that was the only way to really push myself 100%. Little did I know that after years of following this pattern, I’ve trained my brain to speak to myself negatively; both in and out of the context of working out.
The trainers at Burn proved to me that there is another way. Their belief in me made me believe in myself. Every single trainer knows my name, and every single trainer reminds me that I can do more than what I think I can.
The daily workout at Burn is one of the highlights of my day. It’s a place where through tough physical activity, I am able to safely elicit a response by those negative voices in my head... and then prove them wrong. I can take a hard look at myself and prove to myself that I am strong, I am capable, I am resilient. And it’s an environment where I can celebrate that strength, both in myself and in others.
I’ve been at Burn for a little more than a year now. Sure, I’ve lost weight. I’ve learned to prioritize protein in my diet. I feel more comfortable in my body. But all of that pales in comparison with how my mind has transformed. I speak to myself more positively, oftentimes out loud as some members who work out with me are well aware! I know that I am capable of doing difficult things. I know that I am worthy of my own best effort. Thank you, Burn Evanston, for providing me the opportunity to find that within myself.”

We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting our 2nd annual Level Up Games at the gym on Saturday April 20th 2024!
Level Up Games is a one day event where members and friends of Burn Boot Camp Chicagoland will come together to compete & raise funds towards the Muscular Dystrophy Association💪🏻
We have over 200 individuals competing, volunteering & participating with us in hopes to use the influence of our amazing communities to positively impact & make a difference in the lives of the people & families affected by neuromuscular disease.
It’s our mission to raise $20,000 collectively in Chicagoland by the end of April. Fundraising begins on April 1st. Stay tuned for more ways you can help support this mission and be sure to save the date for the Level Up Games event🩵
