Michael Karl Studio is now offering Adult Performing Arts Classes at the Smyrna Community Center! The instructors are current industry professionals with a commitment to excellence in their classrooms. They are dedicated to training the next generation of performers with kindness and precision.
For Adult Classes, 18+, there are 4 6-week classes available to choose from that cost $175. The Actor's Tool Box will teach you to unlock the key principles of captivating acting and scene partnering. Scene one: Tv & Film Acting will teach you to transform auditions and self-tapes into standout performances with an industry expert. Songwriters Workshop Harness your songwriting potential and create original music that resonates. In Stage Presence for Singers will learn how to approach many different styles and perform with confidence! Whether you’re rocking your next gig or bringing the house down at karaoke, this class is for you.

This fall we will be broadcasting games on our 17ft x 10ft LED screens in the Smyrna Market Village! Along with the game we will have a live DJ, prizes, and giveaways. The party will begin at 3:00pm. Admission is free to all. Just bring your chairs and cheer on your team to victory!

We will be hosting a Kids Handmade Market on Saturday, November 16th, 11am - 2pm, at the Smyrna Community Center! We are looking for kids who want to unleash their creativity and turn their passion into profit! Whether it’s art, crafts, or baked goods, we want to see what you can do!

Relax and enjoy live, free music at our Blanket Concert Series, where music meets comfort! All concerts will be 6:30pm - 8:30pm with no registration required. Just bring a blanket and enjoy the music. Make sure to mark your calendars for September 21st and see Arena Sound play at the Village Green Park! There will be a bar onsite with drinks to purchase during this concert.

Let us handle the childcare while you enjoy an evening to yourself! Our fall themed Parents Night Out will take place September 20th, 5PM - 8PM at the Smyrna Community Center. Participants will decorate mini pumpkins and make scarecrow crafts. For dinner, we will make Jack-O-Lantern quesadillas, and then finish the evening with a fall favorite movie! This activity-packed half-day camp is designed to nurture creativity and artistic expression in a vibrant, color-filled environment. Each day at Camp Doodle the Day Away, young artists will explore new mediums and techniques, taking home unique masterpieces and newfound artistic confidence. Michael Karl Studio is now offering after school programs for youth in the community at the Smyrna Community Center.
In our after-school programs, we're not just training performing artists; we're building their confidence and self-esteem. Through fun challenges and lots of encouragement, we'll teach each student how to sign louder, act bravely, and move confidently onstage. Each month will end with a showcase, where students will perform what they've learned!

Why our classes?
1. Our spotlight is for everyone!
2. Programs are led by expert instructors.
3. We are building community in a fun, supportive, and creative environment.

Make this a Christmas to Remember with Smyrna Parks and Recreation's Santa Stops By! Surprise your little ones with a visit from Santa to your font door or porch. Santa will spend time with your family for approximately 10 minutes and will bring a small surprise for the kids. Registration is $50.00 and this event is for Smyrna residents only. Santa will be making visits December 4th & 5th, December 9th – 11th, December 16th – 18th. We will assign your date and approximant time the week of November 18th.

Calling all pickleball players! Registration for our fall pickleball league will open Monday, August 5th at 10AM.

The league will begin September 5th at Tolleson Park and games will be played on Thursday nights starting at 6:30pm. You can register as a team for $360 or as a free agent for $60. Teams are required to register a minimum of 6 players (3 women and 3 men). Teams can carry a maximum roster of 10 players. Registration covers balls for the season, a league t-shirt and an end of the year party hosted by The Stout Brothers Beer Market! For Parks and Recreation month we would like to give a shoutout to all of the wonderful employees who make Smyrna Parks and Rec the best! To end the month we are highlighting the team member that delegates the department and ensures the quality of our parks and programs.

Richard Garland is our Parks and Recreation Director and he has been with Smyrna Parks and Rec since 2016! Richard is responsible for managing staff and projects, delegating directives, establishing and setting work objectives and calendars. He also is responsible for maintaining lines of communication with the Administration, Mayor and Council as well as responding to citizen requests and concerns. "The City of Smyrna is blessed to have a great team of people working for them in Parks and Recreation. The dedication this group shows every day to managing this park system and provide the level of programming to the citizens of Smyrna is incredible. I love to see what we are able to accomplish.” – Richard Garland

Today we are highlighting the team that welcomes you at the front desk as well as the lifeguards that ensure the safety of everyone in the pool. This team not only works together to keep the public safe but also our swim team. Together this staff ensures patrons that they will have a safe and fun day. Not everyone could be in the photo but we appreciate all of them! It’s always a fun summer with the cashiers and lifeguards at Tolleson Park Pool!
