We’re constantly seeking volunteers to help maintain our non-profit community theater. If you happen to have skills with a bush hedger, your expertise would be greatly appreciated... just a subtle hint. 😉

Behind the curtain at the Gateway Playhouse:

In January 2024, we saw some changes in our non-profit’s management team, which we’re excited to share with you.

We’re delighted to welcome Kathleen Novasack to our Board of Directors. As a Somers Point business owner, Kathleen brings expertise in finance, fundraising, and organizational development. She’s also a dedicated mother of three, two of whom are proud Gateway to the Arts performers. Kathleen now oversees our volunteer team, offering opportunities for everyone to shine within our community. Interested in joining? Drop her an email at [email protected]. And as a bonus, volunteers enjoy the perk of seeing the show for free!

Philip Scott, our Education Director, has taken on the additional role of Artistic Director. With seven years of experience leading our Gateway to the Arts summer program, Phil now shapes the vision and programming of our seasons, already planning ahead for 2025.

We’re thrilled to announce Katie Calvi as our new Chairman of the Board of Directors. With deep roots at Gateway Playhouse, Katie’s family ties are synonymous with our early days. A local mother of three boys and a yoga teacher, fundraiser, and non-profit expert, Katie leads our board with passion and a focus on community engagement.

Lori Link, from WiserLink Advertising & PR, has transitioned into the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors position. Since the theater’s revitalization, Lori has been the creative force behind our branded designs, posters, playbills, merchandise, and website.

We’d like to give special recognition to Keith Cooper, our Interim Executive Director, whose extensive experience in the entertainment industry is guiding us through this transition period, helping solidify our venue as a premier entertainment destination.

⭐️ Jason B. Schmidt is the Artistic Producing Director of The Golden G**s™, the *live-singing* Golden Girls Drag Troupe. He has been doing a Bea Arthur send-up since 2010 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in a theatre that sometimes had air conditioning… in July. He’s a graduate of Adelphi University and has performed alongside Joey Arias, Sherry Vine, Flotilla DeBarge and Chris March.
