It’s our annual hikeathon event! Please join us this Sunday May 19th from 10-2 at our forest campus, located within Land of Medicine Buddha. This event helps to fundraise our school’s programs while the children chose an important charity to donate to. Face painting by , tie dye with , arts & crafts, plus food for purchase & a bake sale! Please come support our school community and enjoy a day in the forest with your family🌲

This is Tara Redwood School's annual HIKA-A-THON event. The purpose is to fundraise for this beautiful school's programs, scholarships and for the kids to have the experience of choosing an important charity to donate to. Kids from grades TK to 5th chose the of War Foundation to donate 10% of proceeds every-time someone sponsors a hiker on the 8 Verses Trail Land of Medicine Buddha This is a happy Sunday for the entire family. Check out the school's campus too! Get some facepainting by the talented Brenda's face painting , good food, make a tyedye with and enjoy doing a variety of arts and crafts after your hike.

Did you hear about the prehistoric sloth bone our students found!? It made national news this past March! The fossil is currently on display at the for all to see. The exhibit is called The Art of Nature, open March 23- May 26, 2024 🙂

Have you heard?! We made the news! Tara Redwood School students were honored on Wednesday at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History as the exhibit on the prehistoric ground sloth opened. Our students found the large radius bone of a Jefferson’s ground sloth while exploring a creek nestled in the forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

It was a big day! We made the news! Tara Redwood School students were honored yesterday at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History as the exhibit on the prehistoric ground sloth opened. Our students found the large bone while exploring a creek nestled in the forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Prehistoric sloth bone found by children in the Santa Cruz Mountains A group of students discovered something that's never been found in Santa Cruz County before.A fossil of the Jefferson's Ground Sloth, an animal that paleontologists had no idea was in this area of the state until a few curious kids unearthed it.
Now enrolling for our summer program!🌞 Tara will be offering one session of our Into the Heart of Nature Summer Program. Our Redwood Program is for children ages 4 years through 7 years (TK-2nd grade) and is an outdoor program.
Dates of the summer program are June 24th through July 19th, timing is from 9:00AM until 3:00PM. See our website for more information or to enroll your child!

On Fridays, our Earth Stewards (3/4th graders) tend to their garden plot down the road from the school, on Cherryvale Ave. We’re looking forward to enjoying the bounty come harvest time! 🌱🐝

It’s banana slug season! The Rainbow class, our preschoolers, saw 18 in just one day! The gastropod has one lung, one foot, and no spine; these guys are one of the slowest creatures on Earth, moving at a maximum speed of six and a half inches per minute. Perhaps we could all learn to be a bit more like the banana slug & take… our… time… 🍌🐌

Tara Redwood is hosting an open house! This event is open to the public, but please- parents only🙂 Join us next Friday, February 9th from 3.30-5p for an open house, where you can meet the teachers and see the redwood campus for our TK-5th grade students. Interested in preschool? Our preschool classes are held at the white steepled church in Soquel, with daily transportation to the forest. We’d love to discuss the details of our CCC curriculum and answer all your questions☺️
Since 1989 Tara Redwood has been planting seeds of kindness in students as little as 2 years old until they move on to middle school.The valuable lessons acquired through the CCC program remain in many of our students' hearts for the rest of their lives as do the friendships formed right here at the the Redwood Campus. Thank you for celebrating and supporting our school.
