About CZU Barn Raising:
In August of 2020 the Santa Cruz Mountains suffered tremendous losses in the CZU Lightening Complex Fire. Nine hundred and eleven families lost everything that month and as the smoke started to clear the hard work of recovery began. Almost three years later and only 24 out of 911 have been rebuilt, although there are many in the process right now. Because of the incredible delays and county requirements costs have absolutely exploded and many fire families are now even wondering if they can even finish the rebuild construction they have started.
This is where you can help. The finishes of a construction project make up between 40-60% of ones rebuild and is the best way to create huge savings. The finishes are everything after your sheetrock goes up: painting, lighting, flooring, etc. No license is required to do finishes.
Our vision for the CZU Barn Raising is to help those families that lost everything make it across the finish line to get home. In collaboration with the Santa Cruz County Association of REALTORS®, local businesses, non-profits, and community members the hope is to gather financial support, materials, and labor to make the dream of going back home a reality.
