Not only that, the fees are steeper than traditional mortgages. And guess what? They appraise your home for less because they expect the debt to increase over time. 🔑

Remember, you still have to pay taxes and insurance, or you risk foreclosure. It's a tricky path that could eat up all the equity you've built up in your home.

🏡✨ Thinking about your future finances? If you’re 62 or older, you may have heard and considered a reverse mortgage.

It’s sold as an ideal scenario of turning part of the value of your home into cash—you get the money, and you don’t have to pay it back every month like a regular loan. It’s kind of like getting an advance on your allowance without having to do extra chores to earn it right away!

Sounds compelling right?? With a reverse mortgage, your home stays yours. Even if the money you owe ends up being more than your home’s worth, the bank can’t take your home away from you while you or the other title holders are still living there.

But remember, every good thing has its downsides—I’ll share more about those in my next video!

I am personally still not a big fan of reverse mortgages. Stick around for part two where I get into the cons!
