Update for the Christmas Parade Today
🚨 Important Christmas Parade Announcement! 🚨
ℹ️ Updates for floats & participants:
• Floats will unload their passengers at Civic Center / Pearson Park, near the ball fields.
• DO NOT TURN INTO THE COURT SQUARE! It will be occupied for the Christmas Tree Lighting
• After passing the Courthouse, Fire Trucks with passengers will unload at the Senior Center. Floats will unload passengers at the Pearson Park Civic Center – ballfield lots. Vehicles dispersing Eastbound will simply stay on Bockman Way. Vehicles dispersing Northbound, Southbound, or Westbound will turn south on Butler, West on Maple, and very quickly South on South Young Street, proceeding from there. Panther Drive is an option for access to 111.
• Horse Trailers may be parked at the Old Middle School, or on North Main Street if traction is a concern.
ℹ️ Updates for community & spectators:
• Please do not let children run on to the road near the floats to collect candy.
• This is a rain or shine event! The parade will only be canceled if there are severe thunderstorms or inclement weather that will be put volunteers and spectators at risk.
• The Sparta Christmas Tree Lighting on the square will take place after the parade. The concert will begin at 5:30PM with the tree lighting to follow.
• The parade will start at the high school parking lot, turn right onto Polk street, left on Hampton Drive, left on to Bockman away. The parade will remain on Bockman traveling east from OneBank to the Courthouse.

Notice is hereby given that the Sparta/White County Senior Citizens Board will be having a meeting at the Senior Citizens Building at 332 E Bronson St., Sparta, TN 38583, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 4:30 pm in a public session. The building is accessible for those with disabilities. Additional information concerning the above may be obtained by contacting the Senior Center at 931-836-3663.
Notice of Board Work Session
A Board work session will be held immediately following the regular meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen which begins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023. The work session in the second floor conference room at City Hall, 6 Liberty Square is open to the public. The purpose is to discuss the personnel and other various city related items.

HOLIDAY TRASH PICKUP SCHEDULES
Holiday trash collection for City of Sparta customers will be as follows for the upcoming holiday season:
Christmas –
No trash pickup on Monday the 25th or Tuesday the 26th.
Trash normally picked up on Monday , December 25th will be picked up on Friday, December 22nd.
Trash normally picked up on Tuesday, December 26th will be picked up on Wednesday December 27th.
South Carter St. transfer station:
Closed on December 25th and opened till noon December 26th.
New Years Day -
No trash pickup on Monday January 1st 2024.
Trash normally picked up on Monday January 1st will be picked up on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.
South Carter St. transfer station:
Closed Monday January 1st, 2024.
Please have Trash Carts curbside by 6:30 AM
Extra boxes or holiday trashcan be scheduled for special pickup by calling the Sparta Public Works Dept. at 738-2281 during normal office hours.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances the City will not be able to complete the garbage route for the week. The trucks are down and are being repaired as quickly as we possibly can.
We will be extending the hours of the City Transfer station located at 167 S Carter St. to 6:00 am - 5:00 pm to help with this inconvenience.

Thank you to the city’s public works department under the leadership of Dillard Quick and Greg O Neil today for jumping quickly to repair the broken main water line. The entire crew did an excellent job today.

Thank you to Mr Kurt Dronebarger for helping pass the word to relieve some traffic in the area.
