Today’s lovelies featuring zinnias. I know there are alot mixed feelings about zinnias but it’s a good year for them here and I love the bright and earthy colors together with sunflowers, dahlias and Apple of Peru

Fall bouquets are some of my most favorite kinds to make. Fall is in the air and you can get your fall inspired EAFF bouquets at The Rocket Market
I am loving the beauty of yarrow this summer. It makes such a beautiful bouquet filler and is very drought tolerant and heat resistant. Perfect for these hot summer days! My favorite is one called Coronation Gold which the ladybugs love 🐞🌞
TODAY’S ROSE
Pure Perfume (JACfabco)
Fabulous x Perfume Perfection
Although we have had an erratic and cold spring, the roses are starting to bud up so I thought it would be a good time to bring back Today’s Rose. Pure Perfume is a beautiful and unique rose hybridized in 2005 by Keith Zary. I love the light beige tint in the center of this white rose. The edges are sometimes outlined in pink with a ruffled look. The blooms have about 100 petals and sometimes you will get a bloom with just a hint of a green center which is too precious. The foliage is dark and shiny green. The time for this rose is listed as 6-9 by Jackson and Perkins. Vase life and scent is wonderful. I look forward to every bloom
I have several Geums planted around the farm and the look beautiful always but are spectacular at night. They glow! Makes the best dried flower too
Our tuber store will be closing this Saturday at 9pm for the season. It’s not too late to order tubers for your garden or fields this year! All orders will ship Monday!
I love the mix of Lady of Shalott with Golden Celebration- both David Austin English roses. The bronze and coffee tones of the numerous petals gives the blooms an antique look and relaxed fullness. I am busy pruning and prepping the roses on the farm for the first flush. This involves a lot of cutting back due to the temperature extremes of winter which are sadly becoming the new norm. I am so excited to see these blooms again! I am also excited for the opening day at the Rosarium Garden Center tomorrow! One of my favorite days of the year! Happy planting 🌹

TODAY’S ROSE
ST. PATRICK
WEKamanda
When I first saw this rose at our local Rosarium Garden Center , it was a rainy day and I was walking through the rows and came upon the lightest yellow - almost white rose with green shaded bottom petals. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen this rose before. It was so beautiful and the petals felt so sturdy so I knew the vase life would be great(two weeks ) I had to have it and whenever it blooms I am amazed by its unique beauty. This rose was hybridized by home gardener Frank Strickland. Frank wanted to try his hand at hybridizing and chose “Brandy” crossed with “Gold Medal”. Frank got very lucky as “Brandy” isn’t known to be a viable seed parent. It took a couple years to get St Patrick and even more to grow it out and submit for commercial production with Weeks Roses. It won the AARS award in 1996 and Frank became only the second amateur hybridizer to win that distinction since 1940. He said “I get a really good feeling working in the garden. So I consider this rose a blessing , instead of luck or fate”
Frank passed away in 2015 at the age of 85 🌹
Tangerine Dream is the perfect fall dahlia - it looks like yummy candy corn 🍁🌽

We hope 🤞🏼to be selling our sweet pea “Fancy Pants” seed mix online this winter for blooms next season. This mix contains all the more sought after sweet peas we have been
growing for a few years on the farm. Nimbus is my favorite but I also love Bix. What is your favorite sweet pea? 😍

Great job girls! Last summer our hen Astrid passed away. This left our diva - Babycakes- all alone. I can imagine the trauma she must have felt seeing the last of her sisters die. She struggled with being alone. My Aunt Anne responded to an ad looking for a home for two hens and we took in two Americauna girls and named them Beards and Muffs. We just couldn’t deal with their birth names Chick and Chick Chick🤦🏻♀️ it took some time to get them adjusted but they are all laying now. Babycakes- still her bossy self- has tried her best to be friends and to not be outdone in the egg laying department! The addition of these girls brought her out of depression. Beards and Muffs are not used to being handled so we are working with them in order to do heath checks and give vitamins. They are very sweet girls and their eggs amaze me 🥚🥚Our girls are an important part of giving back to our soil
Luna and I want to wish you all a Happy Spring and thanks to all of you getting your tuber on! Happy Planting!

I walked out to the back field today and noticed the first darkening and shriveling of foliage. Even though we didn’t have a hard frost last night it was still too cold for some of the plants that brought me so much joy this season. It happens every year and sometimes it’s just sad. The Fall Blues are here so I decided to take the 30 stem challenge from Common Farm Flowers- spend some time harvesting 30 stems in your garden and make a beautiful fall arrangement. I’m glad I took the challenge because fall is lovely and there is still so much beauty to appreciate and admire. As I was snipping away I saw our hen Babycakes happily eating rose hips. A fun and surprising garden moment because she knows this particular area is off limits. Our hens love rose buds and Cake knew she was caught! My mom was happy too because she got the florals from a much less crabby flower farmer daughter
