Despite George's dubious association with Prunus avium, this sweet stone fruit is honestly amazing. Did he or didn't he? We may never know if our state's namesake had an axe to grind, but we do know that it's officially cherry season. It all started with love. 🎾 Today marks the first-ever tennis tournament at Wimbledon. On July 9, 1877, two amateurs competed in the Gentlemen's Singles championship of what is hailed as the oldest and most prestigious tournament in the world. 🏆 Traditionally taking place in late June and early July, strawberries became synonymous with the lawn event as the pleasing red fruit came into season during the championships.🍓Taking center court is this week's Tea-rrific Tuesday selection, Strawberry Fields Tea. As a nod to the only major tennis event still played on grass, our handcrafted loose-leaf blend serves up a luscious combination of green tea, strawberry pieces, apple pieces, rose hips, hibiscus, orange peel granules, and spearmint. The ball's in your court! Enjoy 20% off this summery tea now through Monday, July 15th. Open weekdays, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Available in-store or online. 2713 North Monroe. www.inlandempirespice.com

The word chocolate may conjure up a Wonka vision of sweets, but the confections of today bear little resemblance to the chocolate of the past. We have the ancient Maya to thank for its creation from the beans of the cacao tree. The Maya, more specifically, the Olmec, of southern Mexico believed chocolate had medicinal and magical properties. Originally prepared as a drink, they mixed the cacao seed paste with water, chili peppers, and cornmeal. As a nod to World Chocolate Day on July 7th, this week's Tea-rrific Tuesday selection is our hand-crafted Slow Burn Chocolate Tea. This magical blend of black tea, natural chocolate flavor, cacao nibs, cinnamon, marigold petals, red chili, and chipotle powder hurts so good. Enjoy 20% now through Monday, July 8th. Open weekdays, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street.

Buffalo wings, crawfish, nachos, pizza, and hot dogs are undoubtedly some of this nation's favorite foods. Now imagine them as one of America's favorite summer treats; ice cream.🍦Today we celebrate National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day. This cool holiday is celebrated on the first day of National Ice Cream Month as declared by "the Gipper" in 1984. On average, each American consumes four gallons of ice cream per year, but if the thought of eating foie gras-flavored sweet cream leaves you cold, Inland Empire Spice has the perfect solution to dress up your chilly treat. Introducing our hand-crafted ice cream mix-ins: Salted Caramel, Key Lime, Chocolate Raspberry, and Tamarind Coconut. Available in-store and online at $5 each, it's a no-brainer. 🥶 Open weekdays, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street. www.inlandempirespice.com

Are you an onion snob? 🙋‍♀️ Red onions, Spanish onions, yellow onions, sweet onions, Walla Walla onions, white onions... anything but dried. As a home cook, I would unabashedly snub any proposed pseudo of my favorite culinary workhorse. Deeming the lot of veggies turned spice into something unnatural. Never mind that minced onion, granulated onion, and onion powder are whole foods, not unlike dried thyme or cracked oregano. Today is National Onion Day. As I peel back the layers of the holiday commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the National Onion Association, I am posting to share my favorite onion recipe and avow my new love affair with this unsung hero. Full of potassium, fiber, vitamin C, calcium, and magnesium, this dried allium adds a sweet and savory flavor that can't be realized from fresh onions alone. How do you use this flavor bomb? 1 cup chopped onion = 1/4 cup minced onion = 1 tablespoon granulated onion = 1 teaspoon onion powder. If you're ready to impress, make this dip. Might be best to double it. It won't last long at your Fourth of July potluck. 🎇 Simply combine 24 ounces of room-temperature cream cheese with 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 2 cups of shredded parmesan cheese, and 2 tablespoons of Inland Empire Spice's Granulated Onion (or 1/2 cup of their Minced Onion or 2 teaspoons of their Onion Powder). If going for the gold, grate in one yellow onion. Combine ingredients and scrape into a 1-quart ungreased baking dish. Bake at 375 F degrees until golden brown, approximately 20 minutes. Serve with chips, crackers, bread. Anything really. Set down the dish quickly, so you don't lose a finger. Inland Empire Spice is open for all of your spice needs weekdays 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street. 🧅

June is National Iced Tea Month. Did you know? We were a little late to the party, but better late than never. ⏱🐰🎩 Popularized by an Englishman at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis as a means of refreshing parched visitors, iced tea has been reviving humans since the 1800s. Today 85% of tea consumption in the United States is consumed iced. As a nod to this cold brew, we invite you to soak up amazing savings on our Effitiv Infuser Bottle. This perfect iced tea vessel is made with double-wall, premium BPA-free glass and features a removable stainless steel infuser. Enjoy 20% off each bottle during our Tea-rrific Tuesday promotion through Monday, July 1st. To enjoy the best taste and health benefits of iced tea, we recommend using high-quality loose-leaf tea. Add approximately two teaspoons of your favorite blend to the built-in infuser and fill the bottle with water. The most difficult part is selecting a sleeve color . . . we have three to choose from - black, silver, and green. What leaf makes the best iced tea you ask? There are no wrong answers. Just opinions. Black tea is most commonly used for iced tea, but green tea, white tea, and oolong also work well without compromising flavor. If you desire a noncaffeinated thirst quencher, herbal teas, especially those with fruit and hibiscus are very refreshing. Staff picks include Mango Black Tea, Moroccan Mint Green Tea, Georgia Peach White Tea, and Turmeric Ashwagandha Herbal Tea. Open weekdays 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street.

Humans have been observing the sun's position in the sky for thousands of years. Monuments such as Stonehenge in England, Newgrange in Ireland, and Karnuk in Egypt, highlight our blazing attraction with our solar system's only star. The summer solstice marks the official start of astronomical summer and the year's longest day. Basking in the sunshine is this week's featured Tea-rrific Tuesday selection, Heavenly Huckleberry. Our blend is handcrafted in-house and combines black tea, elderberry, natural huckleberry flavor, blackberry leaf, and cornflower. Available as a blend of either caffeinated or decaffeinated tea leaves, this crowd favorite also makes a stellar sun tea by filling a glass container with water and adding 2-3 teaspoons of loose-leaf tea for every 8 ounces. Cover the container with a lid and place the container in direct sunlight or on a sunny windowsill. Steep the tea for 2-4 hours, or until it reaches your desired strength and color. Strain the tea leaves and refrigerate. The results are simply heavenly. Enjoy a 20% discount on this brilliant blend from Tuesday, June 18th through Monday, June 24th. Open weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street.

Dearest Gentle Reader,

Please allow me to introduce you to the newest lady-in-waiting, "Lady Grey". As a nod to Queen Charlotte's favorite "diamond of the season", we will reveal an exclusive tea each Tuesday. Crafted with a trio of black tea leaves sourced from India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya, she will delight even the most delicate palate. Much like Penelope on the dance floor, our "Lady Grey" skillfully swirls tea leaves with cornflower petals, bergamot, black currants, lavender, and grapefruit peel. Charmed with swoon-worthy vanilla and caramel, this is the perfect blend for breakfast or dessert. As we obsess over Netflix's "Bridgerton" June 13th release, we invite you to call in at Inland Empire Spice to indulge in 20% off of "Lady Grey's" Tea-rrific inaugural debut, Tuesday, June 11 through Monday, June 17. Open weekdays,10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 2713 North Monroe Street.
