We just began digging the footprint for this custom 2,600 sqft home with an attached 1,200 sqft garage!

We’re only halfway through 2024, and we have so many incredible builds underway! 👏🏻

Our waterfront build up on Priest Lake just got an awesome addition! 🙌🏻

These massive basalt columns are going to be the focal point of an interior wood burning fireplace and hearth! 🔥

Because they weigh upwards of 15,000 lbs each, they had to be cautiously placed early in the build in order to be able to drive the proper equipment into the home footprint to install them before the rest of the home could be built around them. We poured footings to set them each on before we pour our main floor slab, which will lock the columns into place.

The standalone column in these photos is a structural post that will be the juncture for 4 structural beams that will end up being the support system for the entire house, instead of using a standard wood post like you see in most homes. Those 4 beams will be custom notched and the column will be mortised so that we can insert the beams into the column. 🪨

Since these columns have been installed prior to even our rough plumbing and the slab, they’ll have to be washed and then wrapped securely to preserve them while the rest of the build takes place around them.

This is such a fun and unique concept, and we are beyond excited to have it be a part of our build! Stay tuned to see how they end up! 👏🏻
