This last weekend September 23rd and 24th the Yakima Detachment of the Washington State Guard (WSG) had a request for assistance in short wave radio.
SPC Cochran stepped up and went on IDT orders to assist with radio traffic at the Teanaway 100 Race Northwest of Ellensburg.
Well done SPC Cochran, proud to have as a team member with the WSG.

Members of the Yakima and Spokane Detachments of the Washington State Guard (WSG) just finished up supporting Franklin County with the Emergency Worker Assistance Center exercise.
There were two separate dates that the WSG assisted in this exercise.
Thank you Franklin County our teams learned much and how to assist if needed in the future.
Members of the Washington State Guard (WSG) Yakima and Spokane Detachments training at Camp Murray for Annual Training 2023.
Thank you for the training stations and other training opportunities for our annual training this year.
Looking forward to training in the Spokane and Yakima Detachment areas in the near future with our teams from the Westside and all areas.
Training in Yakima at Cowiche Canyon Trailhead. Training consisted of Communication drills and check points. Team members also used compass orientation skills with map reading and finding various points through the trail system. Do you know what your pace count is for 100 meters? I do!

Special Guest assisting in this training was George Long from Kittitas County 911 assisting in Comms relays to team (WSG) members.
We will be using this course for further training in the future.
Annual Compass / Orientation training in Stevens County.
Spokane / Yakima Detachments
Training with the Med Sled as well as Wilderness first Aid at certain points on the course.
Training course will be extended to a broader area next year to accommodate more points.

11 February 2023 members of the Spokane and Yakima Detachment said farewell to CSM Richard Maysonet.
After 45 years of service to the Nation, National and State Guard.
CSM Maysonet will be truly missed by all who served with him.
CSM Stickney came over from Headquarters to do the awards presentation for CSM Maysonet, which was at the Spokane Readiness Center. (SRC)

Yakima Detachment
PFC Drew Cochran from the Yakima Detachment of the Washington State Guard had a great opportunity observing the EOC-to-EOC exercise in Kittitas County on 29 October 2022.
This exercise will be focused on Communications between E0Cs and will be around an earthquake scenario.
25 October 2022 CPL Doug Lemke participated as an observer with the Franklin County Emergency Management in the EOC.
One task that was assigned was to enter into the Comm Log. (ICS 309 FCEM Amateur Radio)
CPL Lemke donated his time to understand more about the roles inside our EOC.
Looking forward in the future to work with our local EOC in our Communities.
Washington State Guard had the privilege of hosting the Incident Command System (ICS) G 300 class. 10/22/2022
MSG Randy August was the primary Instructor for the class.
We had Paramedics, EMT, Firefighters, National Guard, Emergency Management and members of the State Guard.
100% pass rate for this course.

Washington State Guard Member of 2nd Infantry Brigade Yakima Detachment Doug Lemke was promoted to the rank of Corporal (CPL) at drill 22 October 2022 YRC
Doug is a great asset to the Detachment and the WSG.
Today members of the Spokane Detachment (WSG) participated with the Lower South Hill Block Party. Last count was over 1500 attendees.
This year's theme was to say thank you for all you do for our community.
