Hawai’i has ambitious clean energy goals aiming for the nation’s first-ever 100% renewable portfolio standards (RPS) by 2045. This week's RE+ Events Hawaii brought the clean energy community together to discuss how we can contribute to achieving this goal and address local challenges. Mochi has become an integral part of Hawaii's New Year celebrations. Making and eating this sticky rice treat is a Japanese tradition to welcome peace, prosperity, good health, and happiness. Mike Crowley, PE, FSFPE, will be presenting “Update for the 2024 NFPA 101 Health Care Related Changes” to the American Society of Safety Professionals this Friday, January 12. This webinar session is designed to help attendees gain a better understanding of the NFPA 101 2024 edition. Mike will discuss the major changes related to means of egress, healthcare, ambulatory care, and business occupancies, as these changes allow new options for design. Structural engineers from our Orange County office attended the McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. topping out party for the UC Riverside School of Business Building (SBB) project. Our team provided a structural observation of the reinforcing in the roof deck. Since this is the last deck to be poured, design consultants, subcontractors, and the University attended to celebrate!🎉

Nothing says happy holidays like a new tradition! Our Bay Area office decked out their desks for their first annual department decorating contest. From traditional decor to tributes to A Charlie Brown Christmas and Die Hard (it IS a Christmas movie), the structural department took home the gold with their festive gingerbread house!🎄
Our San Diego office has been celebrating the season by giving back to our local community! Team members have enjoyed participating in a Feeding San Diego food drive, the Salvation Army San Diego's annual toy drive, and supporting the San Diego Rescue Mission. Together, we have donated over 185 pounds of food, $1K worth of toys, and over 400 pounds of much-needed personal items for those in need in the San Diego area. We are excited to support local organizations that provide resources to those in need, especially during the holidays. 🎁
Our Honolulu office was a Toys for Tots donation site and received many generous donations from employees and friends. It made us happy to share joy through gifts with Oahu's children. 💝

Operation Christmas Drop is the Department of Defense's longest-running humanitarian airlift operation, which began in 1952. In the spirit of giving, an aircrew dropped a bundle of supplies attached to a parachute giving the operation its name. Today, the airdrop operations include more than 50 Pacific islands.

Our Guam team had the pleasure of sponsoring boxes, which included donating supplies and gifts, decorating the boxes, and attending the AirDrop Mission - Santa 22 Flight, which dropped boxes at Kuttu and Moch Islands. 🏝️
Several ladies from our Spokane office attended GeoEngineers' 10th Annual A/E/C Ladies Cookie Exchange. The afternoon consisted of networking, holiday wishes, lunch, giving back... and, of course, COOKIES!
