This partnership began in 1990. Then, the students sponsored by National Sojourners would join in programs at Freedoms Foundation along with youths sponsored by other organizations. But after a few years, Sojourners was sending enough students to have its own designated week on campus.

Happy Mother’s Day!

245 years ago the first battles of the Revolutionary Wars were fought. Even though it’s a state holiday in only six states, we hope you are celebrating wherever you are!

Barney Barnum - Reflections of War 03/28/2021

From the Office of the National President:

My Brother Sojourners,

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 established a day of national observance of the sacrifices made by our Uniformed Services in that War. National Vietnam War Veterans Day is acknowledged on 29 March every year, honoring anyone who served during the conflict. Disrespect was a common experience of discharged service members during the Vietnam conflict, Respect and due honor wasn’t immediately given to those who served after the war ended as well. The Congressional Act, signed into law by President Trump in 2017, was enacted to finally offer that respect to everyone involved.

To that end, I’d ask you to take a moment on the 29th to remember the lives lost, all the men that fought, and those who served during the War. If you have a chance, find a Vietnam era Veteran, thank him, or her, for their service, and let him know how much you appreciate their shared sacrifices.

Congressional Medal of Honor recipient COL Harvey C. Barnum Jr USMC RET, summed it up best in a short video done for the Veterans Administration and distributed on 17 March 2021. The video link is:
https://youtu.be/NioCiijvKkU

It is truly worth the watch.

Fly the Flag on the 29th!

I hope every single one of you are well, getting past Covid as best we can, and getting focused on coming to the Annual National Convention 15-19 June in Milwaukee, either in person on site, or in person virtually. I pray that we get delegate representation from every Chapter in the USA, for the first time in 101 years.

Kindest regards, sincerely and fraternally,

Bob
