Pool function Saturday at RSS Springfield. The poolees conducted an initial strength test and a Combat fitness test. The top 3 scores for the CFT were 1st place Poolee Musil, 2nd Place Poolee Mann, and 3rd place was Poolee Haertling. We finished off with a BBQ.

Your not so average squad meet up, in the Atlantic Ocean.

Pilots assigned to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 542, prepare to exit AV-8B Harriers on the flight deck of the USS Kearsarge. These pilots are taking part in a final pre-deployment exercise that certifies the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit’s ability to conduct military operations through joint planning, and execute challenging and realistic scenarios. The VMA 542 provides offensive air support, armed reconnaissance, and air-defense for Marine Expeditionary Units.

Our future Marines are working on Marine Corps knowledge and learning what to expect during their first week of recruit training.

The lives of these Marines and pro baseball players, who witnessed flag-raising at Iwo Jima, were shaped by their service in the Corps Marine Corps veterans Bill Greason and Wayne "Twig" Terwilliger, who passed away in early February, went on to establish lasting legacies in the major leagues after fighting in the Pacific during World War II.
