Personnel stopped by and talked to the Superintendent and Engineer working on the 4-way project to get an update on the project and feel for how much longer Hwy 11 would be closed. The original 4 week estimated closure was incorrect. This phase is scheduled for 8-10 weeks plus weather delays. They have had around 4-5 days delayed so far due to weather. They are making good progress this week with the installation of the new culvert pipe.

The next phase will require a lane shift and short term closure (days, not weeks) of Murphrees Valley Road to install drainage pipes across the road.

Let's continue to remain patient as improvements are being made to this intersection.

We would like to advise everyone about the 154 and 156 exit ramps. We have gotten several calls. We have talked with A.L.E.A. about this problem. The exit ramps are one lane exit ramps. The emergency lane cannot be used as a traffic lane or passing lane.
This is improper passing 32-5A-88 and or improper lane usage 32-5A-86. You could be stopped and issued a ticket. We have contacted A.L.E.A. about this and they did say they were going to help with this problem. We have also contacted A.L.D.O.T. and they are going to help with signs and other traffic devise for the exit ramps. We are working with the state to help with this problem.

Contractors have notified us that effective Monday March 4th, US Hwy 11 both north and south bound will be closed between Marietta Rd and Aderholt Street to replace the drainage pipe under Hwy-11 as part of the 4-way expansion project. East bound traffic on Murphree Valley road that need to go north on Hwy 11 will detour onto Spring Street. If you are traveling east on Murphree Valley and need to proceed to the interstate or Hwy 11 South, you will proceed thru the 4-way as usual. Traffic traveling west bound on Marietta Rd from the interstate that need to travel north on Hwy-11 will detour down Robinson Street. South bound traffic on Hwy 11 that are heading to the Interstate or Marietta Rd can either use Cross St. to Mountain Drive and then to Purple Heart Blvd or they can turn onto Robinson Street to access Marietta Rd. North bound traffic on Hwy 11 can either take Industrial Drive to Marietta Road to Robinson street, OR they can take Hwy 11 to Murphree Valley Rd to Spring Street to detour around the closure. This project is scheduled for 4 weeks, but may take less time if weather permits and there are no other delays. Please plan accordingly and avoid the area if at all possible.

All large trucks are being detoured to the interstate between Hwy 23 and Marietta Road.
