Attention, Incredible Moms of the World,

I’m witnessing something that’s making my heart hurt, and I can’t stay silent any longer. It infuriates me to my core when I spot a young man strolling around with a hoodie pulled tight and a Pooh Shiesty mask, seemingly oblivious to the world. Moms, hear me out. Back in my day, when we saw someone rocking those masks, it was a clear sign that trouble was brewing. The older generation, aged 40-50, understands what I’m saying. Yet, when I ask moms about it today, they dismiss it as just a fashion trend. I’m baffled – why downplay the seriousness? Most young delinquents, car thieves, and those toting AR15s seem to share the same style. So, dear mom, why allow your son to embrace this look? You’re well aware of the risks it brings. I encourage you, mothers, please put a stop to letting your sons dress like that. No more hiding behind a full face mask. Our community can’t bear the tragedy of losing another innocent child accidentally. Let’s stand together against this ignorance.

In this moment captured in a picture, I find myself clinging to the minutiae, convinced that this is the essence of my existence. However, GOD urges me to release these trivial attachments. The struggle lies in relinquishing something bestowed upon me by the divine. This post is a gentle reminder to those who resonate with these words. Examine the small things you grasp onto and weigh them against the monumental blessings that await if you place trust in a higher power. Periodically revisiting this image, I ensure that I’m not clutching onto anything so tightly that I lose faith in God’s plan. When was the last time you took stock of your attachments and entrusted your path to the divine? 🙏 🎱ball

I want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for the incredible people in my life, starting with someone truly special – my brother and mentor, Mike Koeller. Mike is not just family; he's a guiding force in my life, someone who not only talks the talk but walks the walk.

In every journey, there's a cornerstone, and for us, it's undoubtedly Val, Mike's wife. She's the glue that binds our endeavors, making everything we've ever done stronger and more meaningful.

Mike's list of accomplishments is extensive and awe-inspiring, a testament to his dedication and hard work. What sets him apart is not just his success, but his humility. He never seeks acknowledgment for his contributions, silently helping countless individuals who may not even realize the impact he's had on their lives.

I admire Mike for many reasons – his work ethic, his unwavering support, and his commitment to helping others without expecting anything in return. What makes him truly remarkable is his humility, always attributing his successes to a higher power.

Today, I want to publicly acknowledge Mike Koeller, a man whose influence reaches far beyond what words can capture. Thank you, Mike, for being not only a brother but a mentor, a source of inspiration, and a true testament to the power of humility and selfless service. Leave a comment if you agree… Love you bro!!!!!

I believe in consistently acknowledging individuals throughout life, even after they have moved on. Not a day passes without a memory of Mr. Roy Gillespie surfacing in my thoughts. His impact was global, known for substantial food and clothing donations. To me, he was a friend, mentor, and much more. I recall his genuine nature, like the time he tested people's honesty with a fake $100 bill, revealing the true character of those around him. Roy's compassion and unwavering desire to assist others, even in their shortcomings, left a lasting impression. He deserved every bit of recognition. Always remembering you, bro.

It never ceases to amaze me how individuals possess the power to make a positive impact but often choose to wield it discreetly. Take, for example, a situation where someone wishes to contribute to the KJF for cleaning up streets in St. Louis County. Non-profit A specializes in precisely that mission. Instead of seizing the opportunity for personal gain, I opt to redirect the funding towards non-profit A, recognizing their effectiveness in addressing the cause.

This scenario is just a glimpse into the reality of how genuine individuals/ Non profits operate for the greater good. Behind the scenes, I've dedicated myself to assisting numerous people and nonprofits contributing to their success without seeking acknowledgment. What's disheartening, however, is the lack of gratitude from some organizations benefiting from these efforts. While appreciation isn't the primary motivation, it's a reminder that credit should be shared. If you're going to claim success, extend thanks to everyone involved, not just your organization.

Contrary to the prevalent trend of showcasing deeds on social media, I prefer actions over words. My belief lies in truly doing the work, evident in the reputation I've built over time and I’ll never stop doing for my community or helping people get what’s due to them.

With Gratitude to the St. Louis County Council, with special appreciation for Councilwoman Sholonda Webb and Shonte Young, for delivering a resolution to the PAL Officers tonight. Witnessing these officers wholeheartedly contribute to our children, be it through chess, soccer, basketball, kickball, or simply being a friend, exemplifies genuine COMMUNITY POLICING. As a proud board member, I wholeheartedly support and applaud their efforts. Thank you for all that you do!

📢 History was made today! Annie Malone just unveiled its seven pillars and its unwavering commitment to the community through its economic mobility program. These pillars include pioneering career trajectories, instilling social responsibility, breaking the cycle of recidivism, igniting educational aspirations, strengthening families, embracing family therapy, and nurturing emotional resilience. The Korey Johnson Foundation is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with an organization that truly walks the talk. As Karla Mays emphasized today, we are not underprivileged; we are simply deprived of opportunities. 🌟

Always remember this:

When you finally attain the success you've been chasing, it becomes your duty to assist those who have also worked hard for their dreams. Reflect on your own beginnings, the challenges you faced, and the people who stood by you. Don't forget those who doubted you, but remain humble and keep moving forward. Not everyone will be able to join you on your journey, and that's okay. Enjoy the ride and pay it forward." 🚀💪🤝

📢 Today, I came across a troubling story about a young lady who allegedly embezzled over 4 million dollars from a community food program meant to aid those in need during tough times. It made me reflect on the power and responsibility that comes with what we do.

💭 In a world where I had access to such a fortune, I couldn't help but imagine the positive impact it could have. I envisioned hiring numerous talented individuals, supporting them to do what they love full-time, and collectively making a profound difference in our community.

🌟 There's so much work to be done to uplift those in need, but this incident reminds us to be cautious about who we collaborate with. Our intentions can either help or harm, and it's our responsibility to ensure that the wealth we generate is used for the greater good. Let's strive to be forces of positive change! 💪

🌟 Today has been incredibly eventful and filled with community engagement! From the Diamond Divas domestic violence walk to the Halloween event at the St. Louis Fire Department, to a fun trip to 5 Below with Ava, and wrapping it up at the Humanity in the Middle event at the airport. These moments remind me of what I live for – my community. Grateful for my amazing wife who always has my back. 💪❤️

When I saw this picture, it brought a big smile to my face. In the photo, there's my nephew, and one of his greatest passions is wrestling. Back when he was a little kid, his dad used to take him to watch WWF/WWE whenever it came to town. Seeing him pursue what he loves makes me incredibly happy. I'm so proud of you and always enjoy watching you do what you love!

🛤️🚶‍♂️ The crossroads of a young boy's journey towards manhood is a pivotal moment.

Every man I've encountered embarked on a transformative path, sometimes requiring a profound shift. I've dubbed it the "fork in the road." At this juncture, I found myself indulging in reckless behaviors that led to nowhere. I hustled, dabbled in deceit, and engaged in risky ventures, but it wasn't a sustainable path.

🤔 Do you remember that moment when you sat there, contemplating your future? You had two options. On one hand, an elder could provide you with stern advice, often tough to swallow, urging you to change your ways. On the other hand, you could continue down a perilous path, risking entanglement with the law.

💭 How many of you can empathize with this universal phase that every man I know has faced at some point? 🙋‍♂️ 🤔 What did you decide to do when faced with that critical choice? 🤷‍♂️ Did you opt for change or venture further into the uncertain streets? 🚶‍♂️💼🏙️

09/20/2023

Very short story…..this is touches a lot of families right now.

In my many years of mentoring young me 🙆‍♂️, I often run across a parent or two 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 that can never see her son's wrongdoing 🙈. This particular young man 🧒 was caught stealing at school from a teacher 🏫 and part of mentoring, you have to check in on your mentee 👋, especially if they have behavioral issues 🤨. When she told me about what happened 🗣️, she blamed the world 🌍 and didn't believe the adults at that school 🧑‍🏫. I asked, "Did he do it?" 🤔 and she said, "He told me no." 🙅‍♂️ Later on that evening, that parent called me back ☎️ to say she felt stupid 🤦‍♀️ because she found the items in his room 🧸🎒.

This parent was embarrassed 😳 by her son 🧑 and had to apologize to that teacher 🍎📚. 🙏

09/20/2023

🏫 Parents, why do you always question teachers when they say no to your child? 🤔 Instead of immediately defending your child, why not research and ask questions? 📚 Sometimes, your child may be in the wrong and violating school policy, yet you defend their actions. 🤷‍♀️🙅‍♂️

Last night, several teenagers under the age of 18 were victims of gun violence. Just recently, there were significant fights at Riverview High School and Clyde Miller. I'm deeply disappointed by the lack of dialogue surrounding these issues that impact us all. Yet, when a food critic visits town and criticizes the food and service at Black-owned restaurants, it seems to garner more attention. While I agree with some statements, I disagree with others.

What I've observed is that the responsibility doesn't lie with the kids; it's the adults who struggle to accept criticism or correction. Our society tends to favor those with certificates, rather than those who have truly earned recognition. Some of you are grown adults who can't handle criticism about yourselves, let alone guide these young individuals. This behavior is adopted by the children, resulting in a perpetuation of ignorance on an alarming scale.

09/14/2023

How many innocent children, under the age of 18, spent last night in the sanctuary of their parents' homes, shielded from harm's reach? Do you still doubt the paramount role of parents in guiding their children? Accountability, my friends, is the beacon that must guide every parent. In a world where dysfunction reigns in the household, it seeps into the lives of the young ones. It's time to take action and be the change, for those under 18 rely on us – THE VILLAGE, we are their guardians OF SUCCESS.

09/12/2023

I've spent 43 years on this planet, and believe me, I've earned every stripe on my sleeve. Looking back to that pivotal moment when I had to choose my path, just like any young person does, it's incredible to see the growth I've undergone. This picture holds great significance for me as it reflects that growth. I'm proud to be a part of St. Louis history. Happy Birthday to me!!!!
