IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FAT! Way back when, soap was made with just animal fat having no regard for skin care. Today’s natural soaps are made with multiple oils, (and yes, beef, fat) in measured proportions to create the perfect bar of soap. One oil is perfect for moisturizing, a second oil is used for its cleansing properties, another for the luxurious lather it creates. Lye! Oh My! Back in the olden days, soap was made with whatever animal fat was available and wood ash (which turns to lie when wet) and it was a harsh, caustic bar of soap! I wonder if that’s why people seldom bathed back then. 🤔

My handcrafted soaps are made with NaOH, kosher, food grade lye (yes, I said “food grade” (it’s used to make pretzels!). Soap not made with lye is NOT soap but, fear not, it’s not the same as the lye soaps of yesteryear! It is all perfectly proportioned, saponified, cured and pH tested before it ever meets your shower. You will find that it’s kinder to your skin than anything you’ll find on the store shelves.

What’s the difference between “natural“ and “100% natural?“ Well, all my soaps are made with natural ingredients, including the finest oils, and not synthetic detergents like those found on store shelves. However, the difference is in the fragrance and colors. Fragrance oils are made with essential oils, but also may be blended with man-made fragrances. The colorants I use are mostly mica, a natural mineral, but it is often colored with man-made pigments. I also use pigmented dioxides for the bright, vibrant colors.

My 100% natural soaps are made with the same fine oils, but they are colored and scented with all natural stuff like coffee, cinnamon, spices and plant materials and pure essential oils.

Some of my soaps are made with natural colorants and fragrance oil blends and vice versa, which still makes them natural, just not 100%.

Whichever you like, be assured that I use only the finest ingredients I can find, and that no expense is spared!
