DEVELOP A MINDSET OF ABUNDANCE AND GENEROSITY
(2 Corinthians 9:8 msg)
"God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done.
As one psalmist puts it, He throws caution to the winds, giving to the needy in reckless abandon"
This passage talks about God's generosity and how He gives us something we can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that we can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God
Here are some key ways we can apply the principles of 2 Corinthians 9:8 in our daily lives:
* Trust in God's abundant provision. The verse emphasizes that God is able to make all grace abound to us. We should have faith that God will provide for our needs as we give generously.
* Be generous with our resources. Since God promises to provide abundantly, we can give freely and generously to help others and support God's work.
* Look for opportunities to do good. The verse says God provides so that we may "abound in every good work." We should actively seek ways to use our resources to bless others and do good deeds.
* Develop an attitude of gratitude. Recognizing that all we have comes from God should foster thankfulness for His provision.
* Live with an eternal perspective. Our giving and good works have eternal significance as they glorify God and impact others.
* Trust God in times of need. When we face lack, we can rely on God's promise to provide "all sufficiency in all things."
* Be a conduit of God's blessings. God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others, not just to enrich ourselves.
* Give cheerfully, not reluctantly. God loves a cheerful giver and promises to provide abundantly as we give.
* Cultivate contentment. With God's promise of provision, we can be content and not anxious about our needs.
* Steward resources wisely. Recognizing that all we have comes from God, we should manage our resources carefully to honor Him.
The key is developing a mindset of abundance and generosity, trusting in God's provision as we freely give and do good works.

THE KEY TO WISE DECISION-MAKING
SPEAKER: Dynamic Denise Davis
Consider the choices you made today. How many were the result of thoughtful analysis, where you carefully weighed your options, considered their impact on others, and set aside personal biases? And how many were driven by the desire to get things done quickly, choosing the path of least resistance, without fully considering how your decisions might affect others or be perceived, or simply giving in to peer pressure? We all like to think we make sound judgments, but the truth is, most of us could benefit from a little guidance in making wiser decisions, even if we believe we're doing just fine.
Why is it important to engage in wise reasoning? Research shows that wise reasoning is linked to greater life satisfaction, reduced negative emotions, less depressive thinking, stronger social relationships, more positive communication, and, perhaps most significantly, a longer life.
Not some ways or some days; but always with all of our ways. This means to admit this existence, reality and trustworthiness of God. To acknowledge Him as Lord over our world and to give Him full access to sit on the throne of our hearts. There and only there can He begin to govern our walk.
Journey with our speaker today as she encourages us, inspires us and engages us in the importance of 'acknowledging God in all of our ways.'

GREAT WORD BY PASTOR ED YOUNG:
'PARCHED'
“I stretch out my hands to You; My soul longs for you, as a parched land.” - Psalm 143:6
Friday, August 2, 2024
"We all go through droughts – dry periods in our lives. This was true of David in our scripture passage. His dryness was not due to a physical thirst for water. Instead, David was parched spiritually. He said his cure was to “spread out his hands” to God, meaning he prayed."
"When we are parched, praying is not high on our priority list, but digging the well of worshipful prayer is the way to quench the thirst of a dry heart. So when you experience spiritual drought, set aside time to wait in God’s presence. Immerse yourself in the worship of the Most High. Stretch yourself out before Him so He can rain on your parched heart and spiritually renew your soul."

Just want to send out a prayer for my brother; Berry Dungy (father), Vera Altman (mother), the brothers, daughters, family and friends of Montreal Dungy who gained his wings this past Christmas and birthday is today:
Prayer for Comfort and Strength
]
Heavenly Father, We come before You with heavy hearts as we remember and mourn the loss of Montreal, a beloved son, father, brother, and nephew. Today, on his first birthday since his passing, we ask for Your comforting presence to be with us, especially with my brother Berry, Montreal's daughters, his mother; Vera, his brothers and the rest of our family.
Lord, Your Word tells us in Psalm 34:18 that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. We hold on to this promise, trusting that You are near us in our grief. Please wrap Your loving arms around us, providing the peace and comfort that only You can give.
In this time of sorrow, we seek Your strength as we remember Montreal's life and the love he brought into our lives. Help us to cherish the memories we have and to find solace in the knowledge that he is with You. As it says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles. May we feel Your presence and comfort today and always.
Lord, we also ask for Your guidance and healing for Berry, Vera, Monteka and the rest of our family. May Your grace sustain us and Your love bind us together, providing support and encouragement to one another during this difficult time.
We thank You for Your unending love and mercy. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

JESUS DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE A LIFE OF ABUNDANCE
Romans 8:1-3 (NIV) reads:
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in the flesh."
Explanation:
VERSE 1:
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
No Condemnation: This means that those who are in Christ Jesus are no longer under the judgment or penalty of sin. They are free from the guilt and punishment that sin brings because Jesus took that upon Himself.
In Christ Jesus: This phrase refers to those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and are united with Him through faith.
Being "in Christ" means having a relationship with Him, identifying with His death and resurrection.
VERSE 2:
"Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."
The Law of the Spirit who gives life: This refers to the new principle or power at work in believers' lives through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit brings life and empowers believers to live righteously.
Set You Free: Believers are liberated from the power and control of sin and its consequences, which is death (both spiritual and physical).
The Law of Sin and Death: This refers to the principle of sin that leads to death, which is the natural consequence of living in opposition to God’s will.
VERSE 3:
"For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so, He condemned sin in the flesh."
The Law Was Powerless: The Old Testament law, though holy and good, could not save people from sin because it depended on human effort and obedience, which are weakened by our sinful nature ("the flesh").
God Did: What the law could not achieve, God accomplished through Jesus Christ.
Sending His Own Son: God sent Jesus into the world as a human being ("in the likeness of sinful flesh") to identify with us and our struggles.
To Be a Sin Offering: Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins, fulfilling the requirement of the law and taking upon Himself the punishment we deserved.
Condemned Sin in the Flesh: Through Jesus' sacrifice, God judged and condemned sin itself, breaking its power over those who believe in Christ.
SUMMARY:
Romans 8:1-3 highlights the profound truth of the gospel: that in Christ, believers are free from condemnation and the power of sin. The law could not save us because of our sinful nature, but God accomplished what the law could not by sending Jesus.
Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus provided a way for us to be set free from sin and to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
This passage reassures believers of their secure position in Christ and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
