Sigma’s 46th Biennial Convention—our first hybrid event—was held virtually and in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. This event brought together 2,000 colleagues from 47 countries around the world and officially began our 100th anniversary celebration. Attendees had access to hundreds of oral, symposia, and poster presentations that support the convention theme, Honor the Past, Remember the Present, Create the Future, by showcasing the latest clinical innovations, critical research projects, and important leadership initiatives. Whether virtual or joining in person in Indianapolis, Sigma’s 46th Biennial Convention was an opportunity for all to restore their spirits and find new ways to Infuse Joy!

Nerissa Alansalon, BSN, RN, Nursing Education Specialist and Lindsay Post, BSN, RN, CEN, TCRN, Clinical Nurse IV took on the exceptional project initiated by Charlotte Ahr, MSN, RN, a former Emergency Department (ED) nurse. Their project entitled Using Interpretive Ethnography to Examine Emergency Nurse Perspectives During the Covid-19 Pandemic had previously received a Stanford Nurse Alumnae Legacy Grant. The purpose of this study is to characterize and gain perspective from the lived experience of ED nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this project, Nerissa and Lindsay hope to improve patient care and address the challenges faced by ED nurses during a stressful pandemic. Currently, they have conducted 16 interviews with ED nurses and are analyzing the data for overarching themes. Great work to SHC's ED nurses, especially Nerissa, Lindsay, and Charlotte, in expanding Stanford's new knowledge while working to support our frontline nurses.
