The BCoE will truly miss Dean Keith!! He begins as Provost at Iowa State University in August. Today was his farewell reception. We’re sad but would like to congratulate him on his next adventure…and we gave him a new cowbell to take some MS State to Iowa.
On top of that, 2024’s Dean’s Advisory Council has honored Jason with the naming of the Dr. Jason M. Keith Swalm Chemical Engineering Director’s Suite.

Green to serve as interim engineering dean A longtime Mississippi State engineering administrator will serve as interim dean of the Bagley College of Engineering.
Bagley College of Engineering Assistant Dean Robert A. Green will serve as interim dean, succeeding former Dean Jason Keith, who was recently named provost at Iowa State University. Green assumes his new role on August 1.
“We are confident that Dr. Green will help us maintain the momentum of the Bagley College of Engineering and provide consistent and effective leadership,” said David R. Shaw, MSU provost and executive vice president.

The Bagley College of Engineering
For more than 100 years, the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University has been at the forefront of education and research. Advancing in every aspect, the college is committed to pursuing excellence in education, as well as providing an environment for personal growth and development.
As one of approximately 40 named engineering colleges in the nation, the Bagley College offers degree programs in eight different academic engineering departments and 6 certificate programs. Each academic program provides a challenging curriculum and an encouraging environment to allow students to achieve their full potential.
The Bagley College of Engineering is Mississippi State’s third largest college. It currently ranks 51st among all engineering colleges nationally in research and development expenditures according to the National Science Foundation. U.S. News and World Report ranks its undergraduate and graduate programs in the top 100 nationwide.
A report published by the National Action Council on Minorities in Engineering stated that African Americans comprise only 5% of all engineering bachelor’s degrees achieved, with the same percentage of career holders in the engineering workforce. The Bagley College of Engineering is committed to the growth and development of our diversity initiatives including mentoring and helping our students transition into the engineering profession. It is that commitment that has our African American enrollment at 11%, as well as awarding 9.6% of bachelor degrees in 2016/17 to 53 African American engineers. We recognize that diverse teams built across departments and with industry leaders can create the effective solutions for the challenges facing our ever-growing world.
